A piece of fenway park green monster

Just returned from connecticut from a collectors home. He took me to his man cave and this sign appeared. I just had to own it. I asked him where and how did he receive it and if it was the real deal. He told me that this piece came from a grounds keeper who took it out of the garbage in the spring of 1971. During early springs especially after a bad winter the green monster would go through a patch up job. He took it home and kept it in his attic. Sometime in the 1980's he had the yankees/boston scoreboard stenciled and displayed in his basement. I don't believe the green board was ever repainted. Take a look at the photos and if you have any opinions either way on the green color, if you think that it's original or repainted please let me know - thanks

That looks like wood, but the Green Monster left field wall is metal, not wood. So I am confused about that part.

3 pieces of Green Monster that went off in auction in 2009 for comparison.

Green monster "wood"

THE GREEN MONSTER WAS ALL WOOD UP TILL 1934. DESCRIPTION FROM WIKIPEDIA: The wall was part of the original ballpark construction of 1912. It is made of wood, and was covered in tin and concrete in 1934. THIS PIECE IS ORIGINAL WOOD THAT WAS REMOVED IN 1971 FROM THE BALL PARK. WAS IS JUST STORED FROM AN EARLIER DATE I CAN'T REALLY SAY. IT WAS GIVEN TO THE COLLECTOR AND HAS BEEN IN HIS COLLECTION SINCE THEN. I BELIEVE THE REVERSE IS ALL ORIGINAL PAINT BUT THE FRONT WAS RETRORES AND PAINTED YANKEES/RED SOX. THE COLLECTOR HAD THE WOOD CHECKED FOR AGE AND WAS TOLD THAT LATE 19TH CENTURY/EARLY 29TH. THIS IS ALL THE INFO THAT I HAVE. EITHER WAY, LIKE LEON SAID
"A COOL PIECE" A GREAT ITEM FOR YOUR MAN CAVE.

No clue... But, the plywood was clad in galvanized sheet metal, then painted. Doubtful the plywood was painted green before installation however. Take the sniff test, if it smells of hotdogs, it could be authentic. Conn is a hostile Yankees/Sox border state. Very cool piece!

Looking at your pictures, I'd say the back looks more like the correct color.

I think the guy stenciled his ping pong table

The green monster

This is a great item for a bar or man cave. Walked into my building with it to show another tenant and two men in the elevator went wild. A great eye appeal. If it the real deal or a later fantasy piece, it look great. I and millions of americans can identify with this piece. They know what it stands for and where that may have seen it. The green monster is historic.
