That didn't take long. I think the body is still warm. :(

I am sorry. I did not know there was an ebay forum. I appreciate you pointing this out.

RIP Mr. Padre.

I posted this cardl for sale for $100 on the bst forum in November of 2013 right after the card was slabbed. No one was interested. I also tried to sell it on san diego craigs list at the same time. Again no interest. The card sold in a 99 cent starting bid auction for $102.50 on ebay. Below is the note I received from the winning bidder. I am a baseball fan and a card collector. I do not feel I, nor my post to sell this card is "tacky" and I don't appreciate your comment stating so. I thought this is a friendly forum, not one where its members get abused. I happened to get the raw card in a lot that was sitting in a dusty box in the back room of a comic book shop. The lot seller was happy to get a $200 sale on a slow day from a box he said he forgot he even had if it wasn't for me asking. I was happy because I got some cool trade bait including 1954 #1 Ted Williams Ex (does anyonecwant to trade for this card). And, to top it off, the ebay winner got a nice Gwynn for ultra Gwynn collector, see the note to me below.

"Randy, I just received the Tony Gwynn Islander card. It's beautiful. The*
card isnt actually for myself. Last week my father-in-law and 3*
brother-in-laws took a road trip from Wisconsin to Cooperstown to see the*
Hall. It was on my father-in-law's bucket list and months ago we started*
to make plans. He went to SDSU the same time as Tony Gwynn and collects*
EVERYTHING Tony. It was strange that he passed away the week before went.*
On our way out there he was telling us that he has over 5000 Gwynn cards*
but missing from his collection is the Islander minor league card. The*
search was on :) My brother in laws and myself will be giving it to him*
as a gift from the four of us. To him the card will be priceless. Thank*
you so much.*

The reason another poster thought it was tacky was that most find it offensive to take advantage of the death of a player (when there is peak interest) to sell a card. It happens with almost every player death. It's no problem to sell a Gwynn pre-rookie. The timing was just poor.

Yeppers; spot on. Thanks, Derek.

I do not think it is tacky at all selling an item when prices are peaking. There are much worse things happening in this hobby. We are all going to die just sadly it happened to Tony at a very young age.
