Nope! I've only personally seen one and my close friend Tom owns it.
It's still on the want list for now...

I do have a signed Thank You card that was sent to Nolan's good friend and former Babe Ruth roommate Jimmie Reese after his last Christmas.

In addition I own handwritten Nolan Ryan letters with baseball content, which are actually very rare. Most people are not aware that Nolan is dyslexic. I suspect that he has not written many letters as an adult. Many times his wife Ruth writes the letters for the two of them.

I am creating a hitters hall of fame (of sorts) in my sons room... It's been a work in progress, but the players I am focusing on are Cobb and Williams... This one is Colin's 11th signed williams display... He has a good head start on a great collection... I must say that I have taken up to spending more time in his room than my own!

Well, I'm a HOF auto collector and have been stuck at 225. Just picked up 226 & 227 (Hack Wilson and GC Alexander). But I've been busy the last few months, in the meantime, trying to replace some of my inferior card company cuts with more vintage, dated counterparts. (GPC's, album pages that are dated or can be put to an era, or even FDC's of late 20th century guys to replace sticker autos). Either that or just getting nicer autos of the players in general. When I first started collecting, It was on cards only....Trying to get rid of my sticker autos, and less presentable cuts....

I will update my website in the next week or so, but replacements include:

1953-54 autograph book with the following. Dated based on the Mantle signature, but dating was logical for the other 10 autographs.

Some pick ups from the past few weeks.I did not want to separate into a May pick up and June pick up thread... sorry if I broke some rules I just wanted to save time.
The Frisella fits into my died while on a MLB roster collection. I have a Mickey Finn 3x5 coming next week that fits this category also, will post that as well when it arrives.
The Bream photo is neither rare nor vintage but a great moment in Braves history , and MLB playoff history. He ia a very willing and personable signer.
The Willie Wells letter is my 5th Wells signature, but my first letter of his.
The Lindstrom, Waner, and Lopez letters are purchases just to have letters of as many players and HOFers as I can. I will buy any letter of a HOFer that I can find, especially middle to lower tier HOFers because of their overall cost and value when compared to a 3x5 of that same player....these letters are just extra signatures of these players for my collection.
The Hornsby photo was my sole winner from REA. I want 8x10s of certain deceased HOFers, and he was on my list and is very hard to find on an 8x10.
I love seeing everybody's pick ups on the threads.

Great letters! Incredible the difference in how those guys interacted with their fans. Waner was apologetic for crying out loud!

Also incredible is how legible the whole letters are , as well as the signatures.

1940 (probably) Burke Williams and D DiMaggio
 

These were both hanging on the wall of a bar in Oregon since 1940. I was able to find a photo of them on the wall, with Bobby Doerr in the middle. The Williams signature looked 1939-ish to me, but DiMaggio's first year with the Red Sox was 1940. Per Lance, the Burke stamp on the back dates them to pre-1942. Doerr lived a few miles down the road from the bar (still lives in Oregon), so I'm guessing the three of them were in the area on a visit.

Both photos obviously have issues. I cleaned some of the dried (beer?) residue off of Ted and flattened out most of it's possible early use as a coaster. Dom D is suffering from the acid cardboard backing from it's frame.

Thanks, Andrew. Since they hung together for over 70 years, I'm working on a single-frame display for the two of them for the man-cave. There originally was an 'in-action' Bobby Doerr photo between them. I did not end up with it, but picked up a different in-action Doerr to go between the two.

Nolan Ryan signed personal check- very scarce indeed!
 

Not prewar, but I recently was able to cross another want off of my bucket list.
Many of you know that I've been an advanced collector of Nolan Ryan for a very long time (42 years in 2014- yikes!).

One item has been on my want list forever:

A signed Nolan Ryan personal check

Many years ago, I ran into a guy in So Cal that actually sold Nolan Ryan a set of furniture while he was playing for the Angels. He knew who Nolan Ryan was since he was an Angels fan, and was smart enough at the time to make a Xerox copy of the personal check. That's the closest that I've ever come to seeing one until now...

After all this time, one finally entered the hobby. This check has special appeal to me for two additional reasons:

It's twice signed, which is always a bonus.
Additionally, it was drafted on his Express Bank Account in 1996. At the time, Nolan owned two Express Banks and was also the bank President, but has since sold them.

Anyway, here it is and it's very scarce indeed. :)

It's endorsed by some anonymous employee that was trustee of his account that he made the check out to. I was hoping maybe he signed it a third time, but that's not the case.

Congrats on the great Nolan Ryan check ..I am envious . I have been looking for a Nolan Ryan check as well as a letter signed by him, a TLS or HLS would not matter at this point.
Again a great pick up.

Graig - I haven't seen that Burke image either, although I've managed to find two with the brick background which were probably taken in the same photo shoot. If anyone has access to a copy of the Burke Williams photo (or a scan), please let me know (thanks).

Got another Ted Display from my sons room back from the framer today...

Cool vintage negative of Williams hanging out with Joe Cronin at Fenway... Got the photo developed and grouped it with a circa 1970 cut signature
