1910 Boston set of 16
Hello anybody on board win these on Ebay? I was at a family bar-b que and was under bidder on second card and would like one for my type set if one were available. PM me with info Jonathan.

Think the same high bidder got both of them if I recall and looks like he was pretty determined to win them. Cool cards!
|
I was watching them as well. They both went way above what I was prepared to pay for them though. Nice looking cards though. The same seller also had a sharp looking postcard from opening day of the 1914 Federal League Season.
|
I went $375 on each and figured anything over $500 was overpriced. Winner must be trying to put set together(good luck).

Anyone who has an example from this set they would part with please send me a PM Just looking for a type.

I was the underbidder on the first one to end (Gardner) and thought my $650 bid was strong. I wasn't expecting the Stahl to go for $1225 though!
I guess they're just so hard to come by and pop up so rarely that folks will do what it takes to get them when they do surface. Great cards... |
additional information
My only intent is to provide some additional information on these "cards", not to ignite a what is a card controversy. I once owned 9 of them, including one which is not listed, i.e. Joe Wood. I obtained them in the early 90's from Bob Wood and most, if not all of them had the players names in ink on the front in Wood's hand. While i no longer have them, they were, in my opinion, studio cabinet photos, (likely silver gelatin), in folders with tissue paper and it is highly unlikely they were ever "sold" , but were commissioned for the players only. (more like horner cabinets than pinkertons) The ones i had were Carrigan, Engle, Hooper, Lewis,
Speaker, Wagner, Gardner, Stahl and Wood. The ones on ebay were not from the group I had since they did not have Wood's writing on them. |
