Any thoughts on authenticity? Also, if it is real, thoughts on how to display it? As you can see it's on the back of a photo. I don't know if displaying it as a cut would look best a moot point if it's not real). Thanks for your help!

sorry I cant be help with the auto itself but as to displaying it if in fact it is real I would either get it framed and matted with the auto side facing front with a nice picture of Pie during his playing days. Or you can make a copy of the front, blow it up, and display the copy of the front next to the auto in a frame.

Well it looks nothing like the genuine exemplars in Ron K's book...in fact, it looks most like the example Ron K gives of a Pie Traynor sig that was forged by Honus Wagner.

Cheers,
Blair

Honus used to forge Pie Traynor's signature? I never knew he was such a character.:p

Later in his life he signed "Traynor" with that T.

Yeah, when Wags was a Pirates coach apparently he sometimes did "clubhouse" signatures for players in his own hand. I recall seeing a Pirates "team signed" item at an auction house in the last few years where it was determined that the entire team's signatures were forged by Honus Wagner.

Cheers,
Blair

Do you happen to remember if that ball sold at a high price/premium? Just knowing that Honus signed the whole ball (albeit in other names) would probably make it very collectible.

Honus must have had a lot of time on his hands when he wasn't playing ball. haha
