Yep - those are all pretty sharp!!!

I have my doubts on the second Gretzky (no print mark on shoulder) and I don't know enough about the Jordan RCs, but holy smokes!!!!

The 2nd Gretzky is the topps version and has the typical yellow line - looks good to me. Only the OPC has the yellow "blotch"

Nice cards!

Thanks for the info. I still have my doubts w/ those edges, but if it's good, that card alone makes this one helluva ridiculously expensive lot!! Without it, it's still got some incredibly expensive high-grade cards.

Great score! The white borders on all of them are so sparkly, like they've never had any exposure to light or humidity. And the corners - say what!

Are you concerned with the clean cut edges? If so, I think you're again confusing the OPC Gretzky characteristics with the Topps. The OPC was cut with a wire and often has rough edges (like the first Gretzky scan in this post) but the Topps typically has a sharp cut.

Everything in this collection is authentic as can be! The OPC Gretzky is amazing.

Oh my God, Sean! /drool

I have a few of those in my Packer PC. I love the old Philadelphia football cards.

After I run over to the pharmacy, I'm going to have to look at these on my desktop PC. A 22" monitor > my laptop.

What I've seen already is really impressive! Are these going to be sold individually?

Volod 05-14-2014 05:57 PM

Impressive, uploading all of that imagery with a 78 kb max here!

Yeah, after PSA gets a whirl. There were 40 sets in the collection.

I almost want to drag some people from Topps over to this thread, and say "see?"

The cards back in the 50s, 60s and 70s had personality, and a lot of color. Nothing that Topps is producing now can even touch these old cards.

MattyC 05-14-2014 08:15 PM

Bill, the same goes for movies and books and music.

Humanity peaked a ways back.

We could probably have cured cancer and world hunger by now, among many other things, if we didn't spend time reading TMZ and arguing over just about everything. Heck, even fans of the same sport fight and hospitalize each other just because they root for opposing teams. Even here, look how often grown men who share a passion for the same hobby wind up bickering like petty, catty, envious schoolgirls with one another. So in this light it's no wonder that today's cards lack the character of ages past.

Those Philadelphia's look very familiar...glad you're enjoying them!
;)

I had always the heart for football..since my 1st was Namath RC (yeah is a low grade 2, but love it, something with those over-sized cards)
Along with my Montana (yeah i grew up watching him, didnt care for S.Young as much)
and for 'Sweetness' Payton to the bunch with Unitas..I love football.

If and when you do sell, i may be interested as well in some of the R/C items.

So I have to ask, what does this have to do with post war baseball? Oh wait, there is one baseball card in there. I guess it's OK then.

The guy is only here for one reason, to make sales. That's it. He offers nothing to the board except for selling his cards (and Greg Morris'). That's all he's about. His post is an obvious pre-advertisement to the sale of these cards.

Believe it or not I actually buy many more cards than I sell on here. I would also say the 30 to 40 e-mails I get a day asking for advice and giving it out benefits board members, but what do I know? Shoot, one of them was posting in this thread. I guess having someone active in your market able to give you free direction is a bad thing.

Sean,
Great cards. Way over my condition range but they remind me of ripping through packs as a kid.
Btw, Football HOFer Billy Shaw goes go my church and is a friend of mine. Great guy and very genuine. I love seeing cards of his. Thanks agin for sharing.
