My first flips turn to gold
I have never before purchased a card with the intention of reselling it. I'm a collector not a dealer.
But recently my local shop had a couple of deals I just had to move on and it worked to perfection on two occasions. They had two similar condition 1955 Clemente rookies for sale at $180 each. I needed one for my set so I grabbed one knowing they were way under priced. Then on a whim I also grabbed the other one. This store is primarily a gold/silver store that also does cards so deals can be found if you jump before they realize it. A few days later I went in and they had gotten a collection of 1957-1960 cards in. I already had those sets but they had a couple of the contest insert cards from 1957 and 1958, including two Luck Penny cards in excellent shape. I bought them for $3 each. I sent both Clementes off to PSA for grading and got what I thought, a PSA 2 on both of them. I put one Clemente, both the Lucky Pennys and a couple of other contest cards up on Ebay. When all was said and done I was able to sell all of them for over $700 I then went onto ebay and struck a deal on a 1954 Aaron rookie PSA 4. With my usual budget I never dreamed of having either a Clemente rookie or an Aaron rookie in my collection. For my investment of about $405 total (Including grading fees) I now own both of them. |
Well done!
