May 3, 2014 Los Angeles Area Card Show--Nearly Sold Out!!!

Just a reminder that our third show is going to be a week from Saturday:

Junipero Serra High School
14830 South Van Ness Avenue
Gardena, CA 90249

Show starts at 10 and runs all day. It has been a lot of fun the last two times we ran it, with good reviews from the attendees and a strong lineup of vintage cards dealers.

We still have a few tables available [$95 each] if anyone wants to play weekend warrior. Just PM me and let me know.

SMPEP 04-24-2014 12:11 PM

This is the best show in LA

Just to build on Adam's post, because the tables are priced so reasonably this is a great show for someone who is primarily a collector (like me) but who has some stuff in his dupes boxes he'd like to get rid of.

I'd never set up at any other show before their first one in Culver City (I'm not dealer!), but the dealers at this show were very welcoming and super knowledgable (I'm talking about you Marc!). Even if I didn't sell a single card at the event, it's still worth it just to talk to all the experts in the room. But even being a small time collector with not too much to sell, I still managed to cover at least the costs of my table fees both times.

Plus I got to walk around a bit and see (read this as "buy") some of the incredible vintage at the show.

If you're in the area, you should definitely set up a table or at the very least attend!

Cheers,
Patrick

Wish you the best, Adam. If it was here in Michigan, I'd go just for the pleasure of talking cards with you.

Hope its a great success!

I will (should?) have the three tables up front. I should have some rarities with me including a Ruth rookie...

dstudeba 04-26-2014 08:43 AM

I look forward to setting up at Adam, Anthony, and Jay's show again. I will have two tables with early PCL cards and 1950s regionals wherever they decide to put me.

I will be there like the past couple years. I love this show. It's a great time and the collegial atmosphere is just a blast.

bcornell 04-27-2014 07:24 PM

I'll be in attendance. Loved the one last fall and am looking forward to seeing a bunch of you there, again.

As always, if you see my cards in a case, offer 75% off my stated price. I wilt quickly.

I'm bummed I can't make it to this one.:(

Wite3 04-27-2014 09:44 PM

I will be there...looking forward to talking and buying cards from my dealer/friends and hopefully making some new contacts as well...cannot wait!

Just picked up an entire run of Topps and Bowman from 48 to 90. Will be bringing some cards to the show.

Looking forward to the show on Saturday. I'll be bringing a selection of new and old. After a weekend at Tri-Star, it will be refreshing to go to a show where there aren't announcements belching out of the sound system every twenty seconds, and you can actually carry on a pleasant conversation without having to yell at other people:)

Quick update: due to a last minute flurry of table requests we are nearly sold out for the show. If anyone wants a table and hasn't already done so, please contact one of us [Anthony Nex, Jason Miller or me] immediately. Probably best to contact me since I am handling the logistics. Please click through to our web site and fill in a contact or you can PM me here.

Thanks to all who've come out to support the show and will be coming out to support the show on Saturday!

You guys are bumming me out

I was so excited to go to this show, I have never been to any card show. I just found out that I have to work this weekend in San Diego, and won't be back until Sunday afternoon. Come on guys, you can all re-schedule for me last minute, can't you? No? ugh. If I don't go to work, no money to buy cards. If I go to work, no time to go buy cards. Does that count as a catch 22? Anyway, good luck with the show, it sounds like I will be truly missing out. If anyone finds a 1911 Zeenut or a D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit of Harry Sutor in PR-VG, let me know!

Wildfireschulte 05-02-2014 02:38 PM

I'm setting up. I have enough T205's, T206's and T207's in LA to fill a small table. This will be my first show since 2001 National - surprising to see card pricing look to be about the same for G-VG stuff.

uffda51 05-02-2014 05:02 PM

Due to my inability to properly read a calendar, I have just discovered that I am in fact free to go to the LA show tomorrow. See ya'll there.

oldjudge 05-02-2014 05:28 PM

Bruce-glad to hear you are going to the show tomorrow. See you there.

Jay

Sean1125 05-02-2014 08:32 PM

I will be set up.

Cards displayed will include:

Many Goudey Ruth's
M101-4 Ruth
The most beautiful '52T Mantle under an 8
Plenty of other cards including high grade T206's, low grade T206's (likely not on display - ask about them) Top end rookies and higher end material.

Pay me a visit, Sean Bassik Cards. I have the 3 tables up front.

I hate to double post but....

If you are a net54 member, mention it to me and I will give you a 10% discount!

DeanH3 05-03-2014 10:03 AM

Sounds like a great show. Hopefully I can make the next one.

Comiskey 05-03-2014 11:45 AM

Take some pics please!

Wish I could make it, unfortunately can't make it this time.....please take some pics for all of us!

oldjudge 05-03-2014 03:58 PM

Great show guys! It was fun to catch up with Bill, Dan, Joshua, Mark, Ryan, Adam, Jason, Anthony, Bruce and Andy (and his lovely friend), and to make some new acquaintances. I even managed to find a few cards.

glynparson 05-03-2014 04:18 PM

I really wanted to fly out

but got way too busy at work the last month. Hopefully next time, I don't need much of an excuse to go to LA.

kmac32 05-03-2014 09:56 PM

Busy day at work today but one of these times, I will make it. Hope the show was awesome.

I will echo Jay's sentiments...it was great catching up and sharing some stories. I had a very good show getting some great cards and great prices. I actually ran out of money and ended up using paypal to pay for two cards!!

Congratulations to Adam, Anthony & Jason for hosting a fun and successful event at the new facility. From the 7 am setup until I was in the car at 5:15, the day went fast. I'm sure that I'll neglect to mention a few people, not intentionally, but it was good to visit with neighbors Patrick & Dan, plus Joshua, John, Bruce, Jay,Bill, Mervin, Scott, Norm,Mark,Andy,Asher, among others. It was nice to talk with a handful of first time customers as well. Thanks to all who came out and supported the show at what, hopefully, will be the new home. Looking forward to the next event in October

Wildfireschulte 05-04-2014 10:38 AM

Great low key show - thanks for setting this up Adam, Anthony and Jason. Made some great sales - thanks Sean, Scott and Joshua (PayPal at a card show is same as cash) and others. Added 13 to The Monster - thanks Mark. Next time I'll remember golf balls for an afternoon putting contest. One last thing - If you notice a sudden run on Augie Donatelli and Doc Greene autographs - it started at this show.

Hey Kevin, it was great to meet you!

Nice show. The crowd at the new venue was lighter, but more baseball card enthusiasts than just folks dropping in. Made the show much more enjoyable giving more time to talk to each customer and time to catch up with other people setting up. Thanks a lot guys!

GasHouseGang 05-04-2014 06:29 PM

Really wanted to make the show this time, but my daughter had a playoff soccer game. She actually wanted to go with me! So, maybe I can take her with me to the next one.

Al C.risafulli 05-04-2014 08:16 PM

I was so disappointed to miss this one; the timing didn't work this time around. I'm hoping to get back out to SoCal before the end of the year, but would have loved to do it at this show.

Congrats to Anthony, Jason and Adam for keeping it rolling. Sounds like it's really growing into the type of community collector-oriented show you were all hoping for.

We were very pleased. The new venue is well run and easy for set up and breakdown. I think we can easily put in another 8-10 tables if the demand is there. We are getting a nice mix of vendors. Traffic was lighter but those who did come were ready to hang out and spend. Fewer lookieloos than at the park. I had pretty steady customer flow for most of the day. I saw some astounding material at the show too.

We are considering October for the next show.

Greenmonster 05-04-2014 11:19 PM

Thanks guys for another great show. I sold and found some nice material also met some really interesting collectors and was able to put faces to names with many Net54 members. Great job! Can't wait for the next one!
