1968 Topps vending
 

After a recent conversation with a fellow collector about if there is indeed a slight variance in size between "vending" issued cards from 1968 versus pack issued cards in 1968, I looked through some of my own. In measuring my raw high numbers (some appear to have come from vending years ago when I picked them up) they did measure up anywhere from about 1/64th short l/r to 1/64th over l/r, while many were spot on. The t/b measurements appear fine on all. None of my lower series 68 cards came from a "vending source" (as the higher numbers did) and these cards all appear to measure up fine.

As with some more modern issues of cards, the 84 Donruss issue for example, the factory set cards measure up slightly shorter than the pack issued cards from the same issue.

Is anyone familiar with cards from vending in the 60s cards being slightly smaller than the pack issued cards, and if it this is so, than why?
