The Hall of Fame postcard plaque thread
I started collecting these in 2003 (I had gotten an Eddie Matthews one from Ebay some years before he passed away.) Believe a person shopping the HOF gift shop gave me the idea. Since then, I have gotten many in person and bought quite a few from fellow forum member Richard Simon. Just want people to share their collections and to talk about collecting them.
Here's mine: https://imageshack.com/a/Curf/1 |
I've been collecting these on and off since I started getting autographs in the late 1990s- I currently have close to 100. I've been doing some research about the set, and have created a site about them- It also has about 80% of my collection posted.
Here are mine: http://www.HOFPlaques.com I'd also love to buy/trade for your extras! |
I recently purchased 22 of the metal ones, all signed, from a forum member. Does anyone else have any signed metal ones? (I'm trying to decide whether to collect more of them, or sell some). Thanks.

I've been collecting, selling, and trading them for about 15 years now. To me, it's the best way to collect hof autographs without having to put aside a ton of space for your collection. I have a full signed set of the yellow cards, and lots of duplicates that I used to sell or trade to pick up the black and white cards. I've now been selling off the b&w cards as we've been rebuilding after our lovely hurricane. I have probably 400-500 duplicates of the yellow cards, slabbed and unslabbed, including a lot of the hardest to find cards like Goslin, Foxx, (front or back signed) Traynor, etc. A lot of them are on ebay at book value, but they rarely sell. Lots of watchers and gawkers though. If you need exemplars of any of the cards, let me know and i'll post them for you, i'll put up some of the rarer ones now.

Brooklyn those are jaw dropping!
When you get the chance, could you post an exemplar of Sam Crawford please? Once I start buying again, he's one of the 19th century guys I want to get. |

Those are fantastic. I collected them back in the 1960s to the early 80s, but never had any rare ones. I sent them to newly inducted members. It is a great collection. I wish I would have continued.

Wahoo Sam

Here's a Crawford card

Appreciate it Brooklyn. I think Sam is one of the more underrated players of all time. In Bill James's abstract, he has him being a near 500 homer guy if he had played in Ruth's era.

A few nice new additions

I saw those on eBay, but a few of the autographs looked suspect so I passed. You bought them for a steal though...

I told her the Campanella was definitely bad, also had some doubts on the Medwick. These all look good to me, you don't agree?

I did proceed "with caution" as I always do with ebay sellers. The only one of these that I had a bit of trepidation about was the Frisch, but upon close inspection, it seemed to match up well with the others in my possession. The Campy is still on ebay, it is ghost signed, looks like whomever signed it was trying to duplicate his pre-accident signature. The only "signatures" possible by him on these cards were signed by him using his apparatus.

Yea, that was one that also stood out to me (and the Stengel front, which is probably Really late in his life!)!
I do like the inscriptions on the Carey and the back of the Stengel! |
Yep, Stengel is often hard to judge, but this one is golden. I have 2 photos signed the same way. He was always one of my favorites!
|
Nice additions. I feel like my Max Carey is the only one he didn't personalize :p

Here is one of my favorites. He passed away before he made that August trip to Cooperstown.

Wow Doug, that's a really special inscription there. Thanks for sharing!

Imageshack is being a pain so my collection is now on Photobucket:

plaques
Have them all front signed with exception of Goslin,Campy and Jackie Robinson. Any help would be appriciated.
