What do you think? I want to buy my son a lower grade Jackie and was about to put in an offer when I noticed this card looks "off" by the scan. After comparing it to my card, I noticed several issues. First, the skin color of the players on the back has rich detail on my card, this looks faded to nothing. The borders around the stats are BRIGHT red on my card, this was dull to fading. The Green color in the box that houses the "Major League Batting Record" ect is a MUCH darker green, as well as the green backdrop for the cartoon. Switching to the front, now that I have seen all these color changes, the brim of his hat and other places looks a bit pixilated. Also all the typed words look somewhat faded and not bright and bold like mine.

Again, maybe its just a bit faded with time...but man it looked off. It looks really off when I hold mine up to my computer screen. Thoughts??

I apologize...wrong forum. Thought I was in the Postwar Forum where I belong...lol. I have no idea how to delete or move this...

When I clicked on the link, it took me to eBay. However, it appears that the item has been removed.

So...there's a chance that card was fake.

That was weird...try the second link (I left the first one available). The first didn't work for me as well, so I made a new one...this one now works.

Thanks for moving Leon...I know you Prewar guys are picky...:D

John,

I wish the scan was crisp. It makes things tougher when the image is blurry.

One thing stood out to me. The pictures of Jackie seem to have been printed with a different process than the Dodgers logo and text box. Because of the poor scan, I can't definitively say that this is half-tone printing and solid ink...which would be an indicator of the genuine article...but I am leaning this way.

As for the color differences, various scanners (and settings) can cause this...and so can computer monitors. It looked fine on my screen, and I have purchased about a hundred 1955 Topps cards over the past few years.

The seller's feedback and items recently sold are also encouraging.

I am thinking this card is genuine, although it may have flaws not noticeable in the scan provided. You may want to ask the seller to send you a larger scan.

Best regards,

Eric

Thanks Eric...appreciate the comments. I ended up buying the card and in hand it is clearly a legit great card. Just a really poor scan...:D
