The Best Fantasy 5 Man Pitching Rotation from 19th Century
An interesting read from Sports World News.com . . .
The Best Fantasy 5 Man Pitching Rotation from 19th Century John Dreker will be happy :) |
John should try and get a few of Larry's cards now after reading that link.....

Might want to consider Guy Hecker in 1884. With Louisville that year Hecker was 52-20 with a 1.80 ERA. He pitched 670.2 innings, had 385 Ks, and a 0.868 WHIP.
|
John Clarkson had a pretty decent 1885:
53 wins/16 losses 70 games started (68 complete games) 623 innings 10 shutouts 1.85 ERA 308 strikeouts 0.953 WHIP |
Those are some crazy numbers. The game sure has changed.

Nolan Ryan would have gone 63-3, 0.71 ERA, 566 K's if he pitched in 1885....probably would have walked over 500 guys though!

Probably so |
Just saw this thread, not sure how I missed it. I think I might try to collect some George Core cards, he never gets any mention anywhere
