Bidding?

Sweet! Maybe you will end up with over $200!

Good luck!

jjcollects 03-18-2014 07:25 AM

I had 2 offers from potential buyers yesterday on another page for over 200 so I assume 200 was under market value. Asking price is now at 250. Difficult to place a value on it as they are tough to find in this shape.

sycks22 03-18-2014 07:48 AM

Kind of funny how you get what you asked for and still are looking for a higher number

bobbyw8469 03-18-2014 08:23 AM

LMFAO!!! I was thinking the same thing!

$151

What does this mean? Tough to find used 63' topps cards? Really?

I think you are missing what he was saying...
I read his comment to mean...
Surprisingly there aren't a ton of sales prices listed on a comparable '63 Rose RC.

He said the price, or best offer

Nothing wrong in my book with seeking the best offer. I always assume it will be lower when I ask for it, but market value is determined by what someone will accept for it and what someone will pay for it.

I think the issue is that when you receive an offer that meets, or exceeds your sale price, there should be an obligation to sell it for that originally listed amount...

Now, I'm not saying that this is the case here. BUT what happens often is that someone submits an offer that may be more just in case they saw it late and someone had already messaged at the asking price.

The way I see it, it should be sold to the FIRST person that offered $200 or more, and not any higher after the fact offers.. Since a SALE price was listed, it should be first come, first serve..

While I don't necessarily agree with how this one has been handled. There did appear to be some unexplained horseplay, where some members somehow turned this into a public auction. So to an extent, if the new higher price is partially attributed to a bit of anger or frustration with the lack of seriousness. Then I get it...

I hope nobody gets rubbed the wrong way by anything I just said. I'm honestly not passing judgment or trying to insinuate that anyone's in the wrong. Just state an unbiased opinion, with no interest in the card..

KC Doughboy 03-18-2014 11:15 AM

David, I agree with a lot of the points you make as a general rule, but I think it's also important to note that no one on this board offered him anywhere near his asking price.
I don't know how he offered the card in other places, but if he is receiving higher offers elsewhere...
-Doesn't he have an obligation to update his message here?
-Isn't it doing the right thing to let those who have bid $50, $52, $60, $100, $130 or whatever low offers they have sent that he is receiving much higher offers elsewhere so he needs to update his price here?
-If someone here said, "I'll take it at your asking price", then he asked for more... Heck yes... rake him over the coals...

Since nothing like this has happened here, why are people so upset? I say JJ did the right thing and has stayed classy by not turning this into a argumentative forum!

No, I agree.. I even mentioned that the horseplay with all the silly low offers, and faux bidding war, probably played a large role in the decision to raise the price, rather than sell to the first person that met his original FOR SALE minimum..

"-If someone here said, "I'll take it at your asking price", then he asked for more... Heck yes... rake him over the coals... "

The way I see this, is that someone DID offer him more than the $200(I believe he said this himself). Maybe not here, BUT somewhere. Honestly, I think that person may have a legitimate gripe if he doesn't get the card, given the original parameters of the sale(UNLESS, he was simply taking offers on the other sites, without a set SALE PRICE).. Again, I'm not angry, and could honestly not care less, but this mess here is getting into uncharted territory.. The game just keeps changing..

bigred1 03-18-2014 11:58 AM

I saw this yesterday at $200, looks like he was offered more twice, according to his post, and raised his price. Just my take.

jjcollects 03-18-2014 12:11 PM

Not one person on net54 offered me anywhere near my asking price. IF someone offered me 200 I would have taken it immediately. The other forum was listed as open to offers and I then received multiple offers for over 200.

bobbyw8469 03-18-2014 12:34 PM

I apologize. I saw the offer, and I wanted to best the offer. If that offended, I am sorry. HOWEVER, raising the price was a NON-classy move. I'm surprised he hasn't made it $300. Would be typical....

hangman62 03-18-2014 12:47 PM

63t rose

OK,
what NOW is the price on this card ?

jjcollects 03-18-2014 01:20 PM

250

KC Doughboy 03-18-2014 02:22 PM

NO ONE OFFERED HIS ASKING PRICE...
he has every right to adjust it upward.

Why havent all the people who are complaining now done the same thing when a card was listed at one price, then raised on eBay?

bobbyw8469 03-18-2014 03:24 PM

True....adjust it again...ask $500......noone cares. It's his cards - he can do what he wants.

sycks22 03-18-2014 03:28 PM

You can ask whatever you want, but I think people are getting a little upset when you asked for $200 obo on Monday and admitted you got offers over $200 (even if not on this site) and Tuesday it's $250. It's also laughable to say you have no idea what the value of the card is? Look at what PSA 2's are going for on ebay and price it under that. Best of luck in the sale though.

Leon 03-18-2014 04:45 PM

Generally speaking if someone offers to sell at 200 obo and someone offers the full 200, it should go to that person. There are no rules about it on purpose but if someone doesn't sell at the full listed price very often then they won't be on this bst. I don't see that being the case here as, according to the OP there was never that offer for the card on this board. There are no infractions or warnings given on this situation. You guys are the best eyes and ears of the board so please PM about issues and they will be looked into. The OP requested I get rid of this thread and since there are almost no deletions done I will lock it. We can move on.....BTW, please remember the few rules about interrupting in BST sales....again, no big issues here....just some fun and games imo....
