T206 Honus Wagner Original photo?

Does anyone own the original photo for the T206 Honus Wagner or know where it's located ( etc museum) ?

100% correct! Carl Horner portrait

The Dreiers had one. It was even nicer in person.

Are you saying there's more then one of the T206 Honus Wagner photo Or there are very few of original Horner photos that still in existence?

There could be lots of them, and given that they are Horner photos...

...there could be some like this (although this mount is too old for the image)

Anthony, true, it looks better in person, was happy to see them a few years ago.
This picture you took of the pair is awesome, still waiting to get my copy (Plus the other ones we talked about)

I remember one in the H M Stevens sale in the 90's. It did not have a mount.

Probably still tight on his ridiculously giant forearms.

I've seen three, two in poor condition (including the Dreier's-- which is trimmed). I've seen one that is complete, with the full Horner mount. I believe Marshal Fogel owns it. In general, individual Horner mounted T206 portraits are rare, with only a handful at very most existing for each. So only a few Wagners known is not abnormal.

Here's a complete Horner photo of Tris Speaker with Horner's name embossed on the bottom right of the cardboard mount. That's what the full Wagner would look like, except the mount color and the Horner stamp can differ. Technically, they aren't cabinet cards because they are larger.

Lots of great replies back! Had no idea there was more then one copy of the Honus Wagner photo.

Runscott 03-12-2014 09:27 AM

Famous player + famous photographer + a negative = lots of prints.

I'm amazed that more haven't shown up.

g_vezina_c55 03-13-2014 01:09 PM

i think Marshal Fogel own one.
