Elmer Gedeon Signed 1939 Senators Mini Bat Impossibly Rare WW2 Hero
Much has been written about Elmer Gedeon. He made the ultimate sacrifice during World War 2. Truly a hero in every sense of the word., he was on a bombing mission over Germany, one of many that he made during the war. His plane was shot down and he was killed in action.
He played in the major leagues for just one week. Examples of his signature are exceedingly rare. Examples of his signature that date from his week in the majors can most likely be counted on one hand. This is most likely the only signed bat known to exist. The bat is signed by 16 members of the Senators and Tigers including Gedeon, Clark Griffith, Bucky Harris, Earl Averill, Gehringer, Bobo Newsom, Pinky Higgins, etc. It measures approximately 16 inches and is small enough and light enough to easily frame. Weight is just a few ounces. The Gedeon signature is very bold. I would rate it a strong 8 out of 10. The other signatures are mostly bold, averaging 7-8 of 10. http://i792.photobucket.com/albums/y...pse39b606e.jpg Comes with a full JSA LOA # Y21757 Asking $1000 delivered. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Tom C |
