Newbie wanting to trade (some questions)

Hello, I am fairly new to the trading scene. I basically have a few $40 or $50 dollar cards, I would like to trade to help me complete my 1956 topps set.

How would we get this done? Can I send mine first (since I am new) wait until somebody receives it (assuming they have a good reputation, which on this website they likely do) and I get mine in return.

Since I am in Canada, do I send in a concealed PWE in a top loader in between two pieces of cardboard, that way the amount is not displayed and we are not dealing with tracking, etc. Or should I get tracking?

Pardon my newbieness (lol) haven't really sold anything or traded before just bought, I know generally how it works, but wanted a more clear explanation.
But, definitely looking for an honest trader, so we can hopefully make a swap
Thanks

You will likely be sending first.

If you need to know if someone is trustworthy just drop me a line... I will be happy to help.

Thanks Sean

With respect to the method of sending (PWE, etc); that is something that is typically negotiated among the trading partners. Some folks insist on one method while others are happy to use another.

Welcome Jason...I've completed numerous transactions and haven't been burned...yet. Don't want to set the false expectation that it doesn't happen because I've read stories of bad experiences. I would recommend participating in threads first and build up your post numbers, that generally builds trust with board members and you'll have a better idea of who to trust yourself. Good luck with the 56's, it's a great set! You completing the master set with white and gray backs?

No, just going for 1-340, doesn't matter if it's grey or white back.

Bill, would you ask someone to send first until you have either references or see a track record?

Your response completely avoided my immaturish comment.

Post your 56 Topps wantlist and the cards you have to trade by make and year and number... That will get the ball rolling... Also post the condition you want and conditions of the cards you have to trade... I have a few extras depending on your condition requirements

That was the point :)

I saw the condescending 'supposedly' in there and addressed that and only that.

I think both parties should send on the same day. Seems pretty simple.

+1

If talking small $ amounts, both send at same time. If hundreds/thousands $ in cards and either party is not comfortable, Leon seems willing to help and act as intermediary.

+1 - that's how I've always done it. If you don't trust someone enough to do it this way then you probably shouldn't be trading with him.
