1926-29 Exhibits - Color Tint Variations
Okay - so I am officially addicted to this image and this card. Not only do I have seven tint variations but I just picked up the matching 1928 Press Photo (International Neesreel). Yikes!!
Please let me know of any color variations I'm missing!! http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...28%20Klein.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...Klein%20BW.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...0-%20Sepia.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...0-%20Green.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...-%20Blue_1.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...ht%20Green.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...-%20Purple.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/derekgr...lein%20Red.jpg |

That's a great color tint run, Derek. I think you may just need yellow and red/pink. Here's the run that Brad has for Lefty Grove: link, and the yellow and pink/red Ruth's I have.

Nice Ruth's Gary!! Do we know if all colors were produced for each player? I've never seen a yellow or pink of Klein.
I had seen Brad's Grove tints, but wasn't sure if the same color variations were produced for each player. For instance, I've only seen a few color variations for Foxx. |
Thanks for posting a link to my group of Grove Exhibits, Gary! I think there is another brown tint that I have that is not shown in the group at the link. As far as I can tell, there are a few other tints (red and pink, for example) of other players that I haven't seen for Lefty. That's not to say that they don't exist.

Rainbow of Cards
There are a dozen different example tints of Gabby Hartnett shown in Adam Warshaw's article on the Postcard-back Exhibit set printed in Issue #12 (Summer 2007) of Old Cardboard magazine. They include nine different tint variations used with photographic background cards and three different colors used with silhouette background cards. As Adam indicates in the caption, the examples are representative but do not illustrate the full range of colors found in the set. The cards are pictured on page 33.

Agree great pose, one of my favorite exhibits. I think everyone has touched on the colors. Love seeing Brads Leftys. Good luck on the last colors you need. I have been working on Waners, slow going but a fun project-

Derek, Gary, Brad, & Scott, your collections of these PC Exhibits of the same player in different colors are stunning! I have only one of these cards of WaJo, but now I realize that I won't be satisfied until I acquire WaJo in several other colors. I wish Sam Rice was in this set, because acquiring his different colors would be easier on my collecting budget!

Nice collection, Derek! You might want to go after the R315 Portraits and Action of Klein--by my recollection, it used the same photo, and both might be considered his rookie. Underrated IMHO, even if he did play in Baker Bowl. If you look at his early splits, there was not such a drastic difference between home and road. Something else was going on on the road later (I seem to recall he became an alcoholic).
