Vintage player Photos-my first post
My uncle took or collected-he was a photographer, he took a lot of photos for baseball players from 1940s to 1960s. He died in 1997.

Those are really cool! Thanks for posting. Was gonna say the Gehrig pic is a bit eerie with that 1939 patch (his last year in baseball).. But then looked it up and see these were worn by NY teams in 1938 as promotion for the 1939 World's Fair. Still, something in that image makes me think of his eventual demise.. Maybe because he looks a little worn down and weathered.

Wow, those are GREAT. Thanks for sharing!

Welcome. Fantastic pictures!
I really like the Feller pic with the kids lined up above the dugout. It reminds me of childhood days hanging around getting autographs. |

Great first post! Love to see more if you have time.

Nice photos! Mind if I ask who your uncle was and who he worked for? I'm always interested to learn more of the background of the guys who took the great photos that we still enjoy today. Too many times they remain anonymous, or even if the photographer's name is known, we know nothing about the man behind the camera himself.

Enjoying your photos, thanks for posting.
Can you imagine in today's world, a player of Dimaggio's caliber having to be satisfied with signing for 37.5% less than you were asking for and then being fined each day you were deemed to not be in shape? RC |
E.F. Collins & Geo. Burke--more photos
They were friends. They lived just a few blocks away in Chicago. My uncle had some vintage baseball player photos took by Geo. Burke too.
