my first question
Attached you'll see a picture of a 3" that is currently for sale on ebay (for a LOT of money!). I have this pin both with and without autograph. Paul Muchinsky has another example in his book of this pose used on a 1971 Friars Club Testamonial pin.
I had always thought this pose on the rose background was unique to Mays. Now, I find out there are a bunch of Red Sox, too (right now on ebay there is George Scott, John Kennedy, Billy Conigliaro, Ray Culp and Duane Josephson). The ebay seller of the Mays says he has a Clemente and might also have a Gaylord Perry. The mystery to me is this....Mays is a superstar on the West Coast....the Sox are mostly journeymen types on the East Coast. Who took these photos? Where were they taken? Who else is included in this set? I'd love to see pictures, especially if there are other superstars. Rob http://i285.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps949c14c8.jpg |
