I really like the Brown. Early childhood hero of mine while growing up in northern Ohio. What you need now is a Milt Plum. :)

I have a bro in law who coached with the Browns this year. He got to know Jim Brown and by the end of the season they'd apparently formed a loose friendship. He said he's a great guy, which is nice to hear because I know he's gotten a lot of flack for various things over the years. I'm pretty sure before the season ended, got a really cool photo of the two of them hanging out at the facility signed (last I saw he'd had it enlarged and was all ready to ask). Very curious to see it next time I visit. |

This was a project from last and this year. I need to get Coach Carroll on here somehow but most everyone else is on it. 45 signatures the last time I counted.

I added some snapshot to my "HOF snapshot collection":
Probably one of my favorite and best hauls! I got this from a guy's who's mother went to baseball games and took pictures of her favorite players. Then the next day she would get the film developed to have the picture signed by the player for the next time they were in town. Here's some of the pictures I got. She lived in Pitt,PA. Jackie Robinson signed on Aug 3, 1949 turns out it's fainted autograph, really nice pen indentation. Jackie went 1/5 that game.: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...psa271c252.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...pseb576387.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps61dcf810.jpg Duke Snider Aug 3, 1949 Again, great indentation on photo hard to see with hardly any ink. Says, "Best wishes" in the corner. Snider went 5/5 with 5 RBIs and a HR.: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...psd780de83.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps3ef477e3.jpg Forbes Field 1957 against Dodgers: http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps14392088.jpg Robin Roberts- Looks like he signed it once and didn't work so he signed it again, did a better job. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps6dc8878d.jpg http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps02447a88.jpg Richie Ashburn-Not signed, but still a cool picture. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...psf2804abb.jpg Robin Roberts-Sept 1951 signed nicely. http://i97.photobucket.com/albums/l2...ps1683518c.jpg |

Picked up this neat photo and signature of Charlie Root from 1929. Thought it was a great piece.

I'm surprised no one has commented on Robert's tie. You don't see ties like that any longer!
|
Nothing vintage, but some interesting early career cards and autos.

Perez Steele #99
I had just about given up on getting this one back as rumor had it that Mr. Harvey was pretty sick and no longer signing. Have to assume he has recovered enough and glad to add this one to my collection...

Be careful with those laser/fax press photos. They are very sensative to light and will degrade easily. This is one you will probably want to put in an archival sleeve and put in a binder rather than displaying it. |

It's been a pretty good week so far for me at spring training in Arizona. Survived the crush to get Koufax to lead things off
http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...ps6dd6cce5.jpg Donnie Baseball was great and signed this 1995 ALDS ticket for me. His first playoff game. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...pso8hjszlx.jpg Mariners camp was great. I got King Felix and Cano. Both were great signers which surprised me. Also got Taijuan Walker not pictured. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...psthxaon3h.jpg http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...psvv3xr42o.jpg Went to Angels camp today. Trout signed a lot but only for small children. Albert and Weaver both ignored everyone but I was able to get MVP Josh Hamilton. http://i107.photobucket.com/albums/m...psifpzxojk.jpg |
Nice work at Spring Training. The Koufax is great. Congrats.
|
Except for the Koufax, those are the most absurd "signatures" I have ever seen.
Someone ought to publish a picture book of modern ballplayer "signatures" so that, a month or so after obtaining them, people will be able to identify the autographs in their collections. |
Spring
I did AZ spring training for 10 years but have retired. Congrats on Koufax. Never saw that sloppy a one. I know the crowds were horrendous but with the rope there did he feel so rushed or was he pushed? Just wondering why it came out as it did- or are 78 years catching up with his handwriting. Great job!

I mostly concur with what you stated with the exception of "King" Felix Hernandez. I think his sig is somewhat distinctive and has style. BTW, I must say that if the poster didn't say that he got Sandy Koufax in person that I wouldn't have thought that this sig was real. His IP autograph has really significantly changed recently. Packs, nice job on running down some particularly big names at spring training! |
Quote:
Completely agree about the Koufax...if it had been posted in one of those "Is this real" threads I'll bet the consensus would be 'no'. Great graphs though! |
The crowds for Koufax are intense. There were a few hundred people trying for him and he sort of just picks and chooses what he signs and moves on down the line and moves very quickly. As soon as he stops crowds come charging so I don't blame him. I got him Monday and have only heard hard luck stories from other guys at the other camps who couldn't get to him. Him being out here is the talk of the town.
Today is Rangers camp. Hoping for more luck. |
