Non-baseball autographs on baseballs

Scott's thread on the Gregory Hines autograph reminded me that many years ago I had a Humphrey Bogart signed baseball. It one of the things I most regret selling. Interesting that everyone from actors to Presidents will sign a baseball. I don't currently have any non-baseball autographs but would love to see some signed non-baseball baseballs.

I was thinking about this last night. I went to a charity golf tournament back in the '60s, and got a bunch of NFL stars to sign a crappy note-pad. I really wish I had brought a baseball - Lem Barney, Alex Karras, Mike Lucci, Deacon Jones, Lee Roy Jordan, Mel Farr, etc. It would certainly be one of my prized possessions. I didn't even think to bring football cards, and I had multiples of all of them :(

I once had a dozen Ray Nitschke signed baseballs. Haven't seen them in years and figure they got liberated from me somewhere along the line. Also had some Johnny Unitas signed baseballs that sold very well. I keep hoping to find one tucked away in some forgotten box.

This WAS the only NONSport signed baseball I had and I kinda' wish I still had it, but I sold in a Lelands auction back around 2005.

Personally I dont seek these out for my collection but a browsing of completed ebay sales shows the popularity of celebrity signed baseballs. Mine come usually from running into a star at a baseball related event.

Too each there own collection ....but I have never understood the pull to obtiqn an auto of a someone on a baseball who has no correlation to the sport. I understand that a politician may throw out an opening day ball, a singer may belt out a national anthem at a ballpark - grab them on a ball , OK.

Einstein on a ball....unless thats all you have on you.....no thanks.

I've always thought President signed baseballs were cool.

Not my cup of tea, but it was part of a lot I picked up.
Not a bad auto except for what looks like a quick lift of the pen.

Here are a couple of my different ones. I think the first two non-baseball HOFers make sense. The Bednarik and Pihos balls fit in my WWII Vet collection.

Love the Joe Walsh signed ball!

Walsh

Thank you he was in town at the airport one year when I was at a allstar game. Remember him being really nice and also signed two index cards for me.

I literally have a John Walsh Autograph on a beat up Spiderman Card....I gotta find it. I see it every now and then.

If I remember correctly, he signed it "Behave or Else!"

I have a few: John Starks (all time favorite basketball player), Dirk Nowitzki, Steve Buscemi.

I just love how a signature looks on a baseball. They're just a great way to display signatures IMO. I also hate the look of signed footballs and basketballs. They're too dark, signatures are hard to see and they have bumpy surfaces which hurts signatures.

Here's my favorite one. Dwight Eisenhower on a mini OAL ball
