T212 Obak back variations
 

Been some time since I posted here, mostly have just lurked. I noticed on the Old Cardboard site that there are 35 Obak reverse variations. Can anyone speak to scarcity, say the toughest 5 or so? Also has there been any premium attached to these in the marketplace yet? Thanks for the help.

Some are tougher on certain players, on avg. folks will say "Just Right" is the toughest as it's found only on a few players etc. but I found a few others just as tough.

There are a few that only appear on 2-5 players. Each player can only come with certain combinations. Many years ago I consulted with Jeff. O and he kept an updated listing of all the possible combinations. I believe I still have it somewhere.

Tougher ones are Just Right, Delicate Aromatic, Immensely Popular and The Story in Smoking, just to name a few. As with any random search like this, some people will find different ones easier than other people, but there are defined numbers of each. Just Right for example only comes with two players Kusel and Browning.

I wasn't doing an Obak back set until I got a large grouping from the original Bob Smith aka Trucker Boy collection.....It was almost complete, albeit in lower grade, so I kept them....These were pasted in a scrap book at one time, I believe....

Besides the ones that Scott mentions above, I have also found the following difficult to come by:

Instantly Popular
Mais Paper Wrapper
Surpass Imagination

The "Mais Paper Wrapper" eluded me forever, even though it has been seen on at least four 175 series and four 150 series cards.

Jeff O's article definitely had the best handle on the topic, but I think there are still plenty of players cards that have particular, existing slogans that have not been documented yet.

I have a full set of backs. While some were definitely harder, I don't recall any being significantly more difficult than any others. I think I completed the run in about a year.

Definitely every slogan is more difficult than "Convenient Sensible"...they are the 'Piedmonts' of Obak backs.
