1941 Amateur Day in Cleveland Ticket Stub
Hello all,
I am an autograph guy, so I must defer to you all. A friend of mine is selling a ticket stub to the 1941 Annual Amateur Day (7/27/41) that Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Tris Speaker attended in Cleveland. He asked me what kind of value it might have and I told him I was unsure, but said I might know some people that would know! Any help and guidance would be appreciated! http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-Ticket-...item2c7b7275c9 Thanks, Matt |

This is really a difficult one to gauge value. Since Cobb, Ruth and Speaker we in attendance, but did not play, common sense tells me that interest and value would most likely be considerably lower than if they were actually in the game. I suppose the auction process will determine value, but I would not anticipate that it will realize very high bids by most collectors. I did see this auction on eBay. If your friend hasn't done this already, I would suggest that he make a copy of some newspaper microfilm of the game and include this in the auction to increase interest. Otherwise, most bidders will have a difficult time pulling the trigger on the auction. |

Take care, Matt |
I typically go nuts for Cleveland-related baseball ticket stubs, but I'm sorry to say this one doesn't do much for me. There likely are collectors who will place value on the HOFers who were in attendance, but I'm not among them. Plus, it's a small stub without any aesthetics.
I'm really not trying to be a downer, because it probably is scarce. It's just that rarity doesn't always equate to value. I hope your friend does well with it and I'm surprised by the final price. |
