suspicious 1924 Diaz Walter Johnson on Ebay

I was exuberant earlier today to find one of my dream cards listed on Ebay with a reasonable (or unreasonably low) BIN price. However, it appears to be a copy of the one auctioned off by Heritage a few years ago - identical (note the staining and paper loss) except that the punch hole has been filled in. Also, "lujoso" was changed into some chimera of that and "lunoso."

WOW - I just realized, as luck would have it, that I may have just dodged a bullet!

My wife and I had to leave the house at the crack of dawn this morning for an event we were committed to. Before leaving, I took a fast look at my new emails - I read the one from eBay pertaining to my "saved search" for "1924 Diaz" and saw this WaJo card at what I felt was a reasonable BIN price. I had only a few minutes to make a decision before leaving - half of me wanted to do the BIN for this card immediately, and the other half of me said to wait until I get home this evening and then make the seller an offer for this card - I went with the half of me that said to wait until I got home, and I now see that this card has been sold. FYI, the main reason I didn't pull the trigger this morning is that I already have an example of this card, but it has about 50% back damage from being pulled out of a scrapbook - so, this one on eBay would have been a nice upgrade for my WaJo collection.

Now then, it did seem a bit strange to me that a card of this magnitude was being sold raw, and I was planning to ask the seller if he would guarantee that this card would receive a numerical grade from SGC/PSA. Anyway, I now feel so much better about not pursuing this card this morning!

Please explain what you mean by a copy....and also what lujoso and lunoso mean?

Thanks!

I mean someone took the scans from the Heritage auction, did a little photo editing to fill the hole in the card, and printed out a new one. Lujoso means luxurious (in this context it's describing the card album you can get to put the Diaz cards in). Lunoso isn't a word. The scammer didn't take the time to look up the word I guess.

You mean the image was scanned (printed) on grey card stock to look like an old card? That's messed up!
