Any thoughts on what a group of pins might be worth?

Well over 5K for that group (assuming all are authentic). You can easily research the values by looking at completed auction results (Leland's, Legendary, REA, Hunts, SCP, Heritage, etc.)

I'm viewing from a cell phone, but they look very good from here...

I'd be interested in those AAFC Pins.

And how do I know that they are authentic. They do have a marking on the back.

Stampings like "Balfour" and "Dieges &Clust" should appear on reverse side.

Again... any of these pins can be found in completed auctions archives. Just compare the auction images (front and back) to determine if these are real. It should be pretty obvious.
