A Four Bagger Auction - SHIPPED Monday
It's been a while since the Pizza Auction, but I'm still kicking.
This auction features four cards. Lets say the bases are loaded and a batter is coming up to the plate. At the end of the auction the high bidder gets his choice of the four cards. The second highest bidder gets his choice of the three remaining cards. Guess what the third highest bidder gets - yup - his choice of the two remaining cards and the fourth highest bidder gets the last card. Do not indicate which card you prefer when bidding. I am going to start the bidding at $3 to cover shipping. To make it even more interesting your bid must exceed the previous high bid by at least 25 cents only. Of course you may increase the high bid by more if you like. If a two man dogfight bidding war ensues. The high bidder could get the first and third choice and the other could get the second and fourth choice. If you want two or more cards, you do not have to overbid yourself to come in 1st and 2nd. . Let's say the bidding is lethargic and Sunday evening you are convinced that you want more than one card for the next incremental bid. Well just add the how many bases you want to knock home with your bid. For example if the existing high bid is $7.25 and you want three of the cards for $7.50 each, just bid $7.50 TRIPLE. If you are overbid once by a SINGLE, you would get the three remaining cards after the high bidder selects all for the same price of $7.50. Maybe we can end this auction with a HOME RUN. I sure hope so.:D Everybody likes a Grand Slam except the pitcher. Lets shut her down after the football games are over on Sunday evening at the top of the hour following the second game. On first base from Cranbrook, British Columbia is a 1985 almost RC, but 2nd year Sophomore Card of Steve Yzerman from Topps. On second base from Galveston, Texas is the 1933 Goudey issue of Gus Mancuso #41. With a wet sheet transfer to boot. On third base from San Angelo, Texas is the 1987 Donruss RC of HOFer Greg Maddux. And the batter from Germantown, MD, T206Hound's home town hero, T206 Simon Nicholls fielding. With a real big league crease. You betcha!!:( All winners will also receive a once valuable RC as a bonus. Take the plunge, your risk isn't any greater than mine. Still waiting for the first extra base bid on Friday morning. Will you be the first to step up to the plate and deliver a DOUBLE or TRIPLE? If this works, no one will be more surprised than me.:D |

I would have tried. Yet the most important rule to make this fun hasn't been kept.

Andy--I think that means you can go up by as LITTLE as $.25, not a MAX of $.25. As a Seller I think Frank (or any of us) would like it to jump $50 a bid!:D

Jump as high as you please.;) The intent of the rules, which have been revised and clarified in Post #1, has not been violated. Fred is correct that 25 cents is the minimum increment allowed. Any increment over that amount is fine as well. Sorry for any confusion. |
9.25?... I mean....
9.25! :) |
I always thought that a "four bagger" was the ugliest chick at the bar.

and $9.50.

Whoops, missed the $9.25 above. Make that $9.50 and $9.75!

The Bottom of the Ninth,.........
the runners take their leads and we head down the home stretch. The Seahawks and the 49ers should finish by 9PM CST. If not, the auction will be extended to 10PM CST. Next minimum bid is $10.00. If there is only one more bid, a $10.00 HOME RUN bid takes the whole enchilada for $40.
Granted that's expensive for an enchilada, but we're talkin' cardboard here. Don't forget the once valuable rookie cards, at least until you see them. There's still plenty of time to bid during pre-game, time outs, commercials and halftime. Enjoy the game. |
