E102 cobb

Been looking for awhile for a nice low grade e101 or e102 ty cobb but they never seem to come up for sale. Always loved the look of that card. Where there not many made of these?

I don't think the E101/E102 Cobbs were produced any less than others in the series, they are just collected more. The bat-leaning varieties are always collector favorites. As a matter of fact one of the first expensive (to me) cards I ever bought was an E102 Cobby from John Spencer. He and Mike Williams created this forum's predecessor, back in 1998..

They seem to very scarce and rarely come up for sale. Ive always loved the look of that card. I had a very nice psa 1 back in the day and regret selling it. What grade was yours?

I bought it raw and it graded an SGC30. I sold it a long time ago when I quit doing the rookie card thing. For years the E102 Cobb was considered one of his rookie cards. Now I still have a Cobb-leaning pose but in a much more rare series..It is graded a 2 (I thought it was a 1)

I bought this E101 a year or so ago and love the pose, which really just seems to pop from the card.

I'm only a sample size of one collector, but the great image is why I want to hold onto mine, much more so than even other Cobb cards, because of the image...

Damn thats a nice cobb. Not gonna lie im a little jealous right now..lol

That Cobb is one of my favorite Mello Mint poses.

One of my 2014 goals is to land an e101/e102 or e92 Cobby, so I'm right there with you. They do pop up from time to time. Just gotta be patient.

Leon - Love that Kotton Cobb. I've spent many moments drooling over it.

I agree they are hard to find, and even harder to find at a decent price. I picked my E101 up at an auction a couple months back. Poor condition, but of those cards I can be in love with no matter the condition.

you won't find an e92, and the e101 is easier to come by than the e102 (and costs less). great pose one of my favorites!

Quan, not so fast, there's an e92 on ebay right now. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1909-E92-Cro...item3a89cb41e6. :D

Difficult to find in any condition. Luckily, I was able to pick one up from a board member a couple months back.

Jeff, I just scratched my eyes on the corners of that card. What a beauty!

E93 01-15-2014 08:21 PM

That one is a beauty Scott. I love this pose too. I have it from the E105 Mello Mint series which I believe may be among the toughest, along with Leon's above. To my knowledge there are only 4 or 5 examples of the E105.

Jim, that's just absolutely gorgeous. I hope to own one someday. This is a great thread.

Great card, but that's a terrrible holder. That card deserves to have a holder that fits it correctly.

Jeff,
That is a gorgeous example of the E102!

There is a E102 on e-bay, pricey for me, but maybe not some of you guys.

I bought the E102 set from the Halper auction YEARS ago and that E102 Cobb looks like the one from that sale. I'm not 100% sure but I think it might be. Wish I'd kept them!

Not in the best of shape - but it's still one of the cornerstones of my collection. Always liked this image. Picked it up a couple of years back.
