Quick one day auction, I am willing to sell the item because of the bigger one waiting to be paid so my loss, your gain.

Starting price is : $3.000-

MikeKam 01-13-2014 11:29 AM

Good luck :)

Leon 01-13-2014 12:04 PM

This auction is discontinued until I chat with the original poster. There seems to be a phone number issue...

Given the fact that this is his first post, it's a one-day auction and the grammatical mistakes, I have a feeling there is more than just a phone number issue :D

ullmandds 01-13-2014 12:10 PM

that sure is a pristine looking signature.

vintagetoppsguy 01-13-2014 12:20 PM

I think I've said it before but, if not, I'll say it now. It's my opinion that new members should have a 90 day waiting period before listing anything on the B/S/T. I know others may disagree and that is fine, it's just my opinion. Just too many scams lately, but I do thank Leon for keeping us safe!!!

Jim65 01-13-2014 12:29 PM

I agree, especially high dollar stuff like this.

Leon 01-13-2014 12:32 PM

I am still opposed to having waiting periods. But I am not opposed to giving out some info from registrations when they seem to be crap.....I don't think I can ever recall doing a Google search and not finding one instance of someone, such as our OP here...

If not 90, I`d say at least 30 days. Just my 2 cents.

For every rule there has to be enforcement. I really don't think a waiting period is going to help, honestly. How many times has someone like this (most likely a bad guy, we'll see) got away with scamming a board member? To my knowledge the answer is 0. Yes, we had the Jose issue recently but no kind of waiting or security is going to prevent someone from not living up to their part of a deal. I just don't see a waiting period helping....and the upkeep is more than I really want to do given I don't think it will help.

sportsnbikes 01-13-2014 01:38 PM

I just joined last week and I'd understand if there were some sort of a waiting period. I understand Leon is against that. When it comes right down to it, one could always join and then come back after the waiting period to scam. I guess you'd have to look at the contributions they made in X amount of days to decide if you would bid or not.

I wouldnt buy anything at a price like that from a guy whos new and no one knows.

The website OP supplied has just added another card w/ a different name & the Babe sig is IDENTICAL!

That sig is preprinted regardless of the what the holder states.

NOTE: I decided to take another look & there ARE some subtle differences in the Ruth sig I didn't see before! My Bad!

ATP 01-13-2014 10:59 PM

FWIW, the example shown in the other thread (Not the one the OP is offering)... that is very well loved... the one made out to Chris Franks, used to be mine. I bought it from Chris Franks who was there as a child. The signature on it is definitely not preprinted, you can see the fountain pen overlaps and is without a doubt an authentic Ruth signature.

GoldenAge50s 01-13-2014 11:10 PM

Thanks Jeff. I was way too hasty when I posted so I went back & looked again and saw what I didn't see the 1st time.

The original poster of this item lied about literally everything on his registration. I don't see him being allowed to be a member for that reason. After he was banned he emailed asking why. I told him because of a bad phone number and a fictitious name to start with. He then started asking questions and asking for assurances about his info. I just told him no thanks and please go away. I don't want to play games with registrations.

ullmandds 01-14-2014 10:55 AM

personally I think a 90 day waiting period is an excellent idea. i'd guess most crooks come on here looking for a quick hit...who's going to wait out the 90 days before trying something fishy?

I think it'd be an effective deterrent!

gregr2 01-14-2014 10:57 AM

Leon - as always you do an incredible job of keeping this forum safe for us!! Thanks for all your hard work!!

I am always open to suggestion. My concern about this, as I have stated, is enforcing it as well as potentially ADDING security for a scammer. Let's say we have 90 day waiting period. Everyone starts to think we are even safer than we are. Then the scammer who signed up 91 days ago comes on and scams someone, as that someone who got scammed, had a false sense of security. As I also said, show me 1 person scammed from a newbie, who is out money, and we will continue this discussion. Until then I think our members do a fantastic job of letting me know of potential issues. When reported they get looked into immediately too. And lastly to all or our members, please, please continue to be our eyes and ears on the board.....thanks to all..

I should add that I don't know if this OP is a scammer or not but he lied about everything to get in....so was quickly shown the door out.

The old 'too good to be true' adage generally applies..........but just to be sure, I bid Mikehealer + $20.00.
