Help ID Yankee Clipper Bat '30-40's
5 Attachment(s)
Hey folks,
New to the forum. Have always been into cards, nothing serious though. A while ago I acquired a beautiful Stall and Dean bat. The only helpful info I've ever found is on this forum which helped pin it to the 30's or 40's based on the Yankee Clipper logo. So without further ado, here she is. A beauty to behold, and she swings like an extension of my arms. 34", not sure of the wood. Logo reads "Yankee Clipper/(logo)/Stall and Dean/Brookton, Mass. Towards the end of the bat "Musial Style/ No. YC" is stamped. She's pretty straight and the only real dirty part is the head. I read somewhere that you can tell if it's hand or machined turned by looking for the "lathe marks" on the knob. I believe those are on the knob of this bat, but that could also be little indentations from the grain of the wood. Any and all info would be appreciated. Really would like to get to know this piece of history a little better. Thanks and God Bless Matt http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/13/3upevu2u.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/13/4uzetuty.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/01/13/najygame.jpg |
Hi-
I had a Williams model, also a Yankee Clipper. It is a nice store model bat from the late 1940s or early 1950s in my opinion. Alan |
Just an observation
With Stan's rookie year being 1941, I believe that should rule out 1930's as a possibility :D
