Auction is over so let's try this again.
Now that the auction for these cards is over what do you think about the prices realized? I am neither the buyer nor the seller. I have been watching these cards for about two weeks to see what was going to happen.
www.kraftauction.com. Lot 1508 sold for $750 http://www.auctionzip.com/aflive.htm...ECEB02&seq=539, Lot 1514 sold for $825 http://www.auctionzip.com/aflive.htm...BF589A&seq=545 and Lot 1518 sold for $150 http://www.auctionzip.com/aflive.htm...47F40C&seq=549 There were also non-sport tobacco cards that sold. The first two lots appear to have been very good buys. The football card and the buffalo bill card are both really cool. The OJs are rough, but some of the images are fairly strong. I do not think they went incredibly cheap, but much cheaper than a hobby auction. Congratulations to the winning bidder(s).

I had a bid on for the OJs but got outbid at the onset. They only showed 9 cards (despite saying 12 were in the lot in the listing), so I think the price was actually a bit high. There was a Clarkson in the lot that prompted me to bid. W/ 20%+ BP, the price seems high to me on that lot.

I did not take a good look, so I guess it depends what the other OJs were. The other lot is also in rough shape, so maybe no steals, but hopefully the winner is happy.

I think $900 would be top price for the OJ lot. The one card is Nash tagging Radbourn, but it's also missing an entire corner and the rest is rough. Clarkson is a very common HOF, so even with him, it's not a huge lot. The other cards would go $50-60, common players in tough shape

Alan, Thanks for responding.
Derek, Again, I saw this auction a few weeks ago. I contactd teh auction house to see if there were 12 cards in the lot (while only nine were pictured) and to ask what the name of the Boston player was (I couldn't read the bottom of the card). They never responded but did change the title to reflect only nine cards in the lot. As far as condition goes, I thought these were a little rough. I knew the Beecher football card was rare but didn't know how much one in that condition would be worth. I was going to go to $400 on that lot (so that I could hopefully make some money if I decided to flip the lot) but it already had that bid online as of Saturday morning. Twenty years ago, I paid $700 dollars at a local auction for nine Old Judge baseball cards that were in a little better condition than these cards. Of course, those nine cards included an Anson, Ewing, Rusie, Van Haltren and a Williamson. Not knowing what the market is today for cards like these, I just wanted to see if I missed out on some good deals or be happy that I didn't overpay for things I could find elsewhere. Thanks again for your ersponses, David |
as for the N162 lot
beacher might be a 600.00/800. retail card even in that rough condition (shameless plug I'm looking for a decent example). The BB player figure maybe 75./100., the dempsey 40./50., buffalo bill 50./75. depending on all the usual variables that affect selling price including venue. The rest of the cards IF you could sell them 10./20..
No guarantees whether written or implied...... Never argue with an idiot as they'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience. |
