which card?

Looking to add a new card to my collection. Ive narrowed it down to either a 56 topps mantle psa 4 or a 52 bowman willie mays psa 4. Which would you choose?

The Say Hey kid.....always loved that 52 B Mays.

56 Mantle -Triple Crown year and MVP. Iconic card of an iconic player. Just my personal choice, however either card is a nice addition to any collection.

I collect both...and if had to choose would go Mantle all day long within those two examples...

52 mays is absolutely one of my favorite cards of all time. So many Mantle's are perfect images of him but Mays wasn't as photogenic ,IMO. 52 shows all his intensity and career ahead of him. Defiantly my choice.

Gotta go 56 Mick. As said earlier, triple crown year and an iconic card. It's arguably Mick's most visually appealing card. Saying a lot considering all 50s Micks are gorgeous.

Now wrong choice here though. That Mays is a stunner as well.

I'd go with

whichever one I could find a better deal on and pick up the other one at a later date. Both are great cards with solid demand.

Mantle or Mays

My preference would be the '56 Mantle. That is probably my favorite card.

In the card they re-arranged several things from the original photo....like the height of the ball and they duplicated the crowd scene as well. They guy in the tie and people surrounding him were put in twice. I don't have a copy of the photo they used. It would be nice to see for comparison purposes.

There was a great thread a while back with the original photos of the 56 cards. I do remember seeing the Mantle picture, the ball was a home run for sure. They moved it down for the card.

Mantle

Well, I've probably showed this card a dozen+ times when given the opportunity. Possibly the crown jewel of my collection. Obviously I'm biased so I would go with the Mantle:

Joey, your question is like asking "'stache, who would you rather boink, Jennifer Lawrence or Kate Upton?" There is no wrong answer as far as I'm concerned. :p

If a gun were held to my head, I'd say the Mantle. It's a tough choice for me, especially when you consider I'm a big time Bowman lover. But they'd have to cock the hammer back before I'd make my choice. Two outstanding cards. You can't go wrong either way. :D

Greg, 1953 Bowman Color Mickey Mantle says "hi". ;)

I know you said arguably, so I'm making a friendly argument. As incredible as the '56 Topps Mantle is, the '53 Bowman Color is one of my top ten all-time favorite cards.

No need for print, or colorful boxes. Just the Mick, in all his glorious youth, with some 500 home runs yet to come. God, if I had a time machine, I'd go back, and watch him hit every one of those 536 bombs.

LOL...did you just say jennifer lawrence? Well I didnt wanna bring this up but shes actually my future baby mama. Youre right though theyre both equally great cards. I ended up going with the mays first but am looking to add the mantle in the near future.

You have got to post a picture of your new Mays when you have it in hand. Love that card. One of my top five favorites in my personal collection.
