Finally picked up Hilton Smith (again)
 

After being forced to sell my last one, I was able to secure another Hilton Smith for the HOF Collection. This one won't be for sale!!! :)

I spent more than I wanted, but am very happy to have a vintage signature of Ted Williams in my collection

Man. Teddy's signature varied a ton during those earlier years...

I like them all, but there something about his older stuff that is just cool... There are several early exemplars on the PSA/DNA autograph facts sight... there are also some very cool Mid 30's signatures that you can find on HA's Closed auctions...

Just picked up this great Bobby Wallace to add to the HOF Collection!!! Currently sitting at 194 in my quest to get back to 200!!! :):):)

Wow James, first a nice WaJo signed sheet and then Wallace a few days later. You are well on your way to 200..well done! Just received my Eddie Collins signed Stockholder sheet from you, thanks again. That was 199 for me.

Great pick-ups guys. I just picked this one up last week. I'm going to need to get another job to keep up this habit :(

Old Reds Lot
 

Picked this cool lot of 29 1960's Red's 3x5's from a boardmember this week. Thanks Moose!

29 total 3x5's in the lot, The original collector accumulated them in the 1960 in the San Francisco area and tucked them away nice and neat... The Rose was the one that I was after, with a plan to break up the lot, but to be candid just not sure if they deserve to be split up!

Whats really interesting is that 26 of the 29 players represented played in 1967, 68 or both... One finished his career in 1965 & two others 1966...

Among the lot are Rose, Perez, Frank Robinson, and a Johnny Bench that has me stymied (I have never scene one that lacked confidence and vigor-perhaps ths one early or a clubby???)

That is a nice lit, congrats!

Cool group. Bench must be secretarial as you mentioned. It looks nothing like his sig from that era.

The photo itself is great. Love the expression on James Taylor's face. That alone makes it an outstanding image.

Thanks!! As soon as I saw it I just feel in love with the picture. Having it autographed was just icing on the cake. My wife (who doesn't care one bit about baseball or autographs) is out of town on business and I sent her a pic of the photo. She loved it and was super excited I got it.

a great grapher just got me Mel Brooks on my Blazing Saddles lobby card! I can now officially retire this one (since Wilder isnt shown).

My wife is the same way. She loves my photographs of flowers, koala bears, kangaroos and the such (Yes, been to Australia 5 times) and even some of my concert photography. She is quite knowledgeable about art having visited many of the major art museums in the U.S. and Europe. She really appreciates quite a few of the original black and white press and studio photos in my collection. They are all Olympians and go back to the early 1900's - 3500+ in total.

WOW, 3500+ that is a serious collection!! Well done!

Thanks Tony for these two...Leyland will be a Hall of Famer and I think Buck has a shot, too...might need to win a Series but the Yankees, Diamondbacks and Rangers teams he built won, or competed, in quite a few Fall Classics...

Not too keen on the framing job, but picked this Nellie Fox up for a good price and I can always reframe.

Comes with a scoreboard cert that Ken was gracious enough to verify it for me.

I'm very happy to add this gorgeous 1931 vintage signed AP of HOF Lefty Grove. I've been waiting to find a really nice example of his sig and this one fit the bill perfectly.
What makes it extra cool is that in 1931 Lefty Grove won the MVP award and had what is most likely the greatest single season ever for a pitcher , he led the league in wins with an amazing 31-4 record and ERA 2.06.

You've gotta love Lefty's beautiful flowing signature in steel-tipped fountain pen.

This is precisely why I really hate modern athlete signatures. Their hand writing is so pathetic that it makes me cringe. Why wouldn't you rather collect vintage signatures? They are terrific to collect and look at... :cool:
