Help with T3 and other oversive issues
Greetings,
I am in search of a bit of information on some oversized cards. I don't currently collect any of these, so I thought I would inquire here as I'm certain this would be the best chance at getting correct info. I specifically need to know the thickness of a T3,4,5, E125 or really any other issue that would be slabbed in a "oversize" grading holder. If anyone has one of these issues and the means (micrometers or calipers) and would provide me with the actual card thickness (within .010" or 1/4 mm) I would be forever in your debt. Thank you in advance, Rob |
T3 Oversize
My digital calipers indicate my T3 Lobert ranges from 0.53/0.54/0.55/0.55mm measured from each side.
several other random measurements around the card fell in the same range, but gave a max of 0.56mm. Z Wheat |
They aren't as thick as I would have guessed. I am researching for improvments to a holder for these issues.
Thank you very much for taking the time to help out. Rob |
And of the real cabinet cards, like the N173 Old Judges and T5 Pinkertons will be thicker than the T3s. The T3s are just a print, while the true cabinets have a a photo print pasted to a heavier cardboard backing and thus can be much thicker.
If you want some measurements of general cabinet cards and CDVs, I could provide you that-- but I don't own any T5s, N173s, T3s or such. |

I've been waiting patiently for nearly a year now for SGC to improve their cabinet-sized holders (I have a couple T3s that currently slide around in the slab). |

Oops I forgot about this thread. I just measured three random but standard 1890s-early 1900s and the measured 64mm with one 63mm. Just a test.

Thank you for reporting your findings.
