What signature would you like to add to your collection in 2014?
I actually turned my focus away from baseball for the most part in 2013 and really got ramped up on my Ohio State football collection.
I would like to add a John Eckstorm and/or Jack Ryder to my Ohio State coaches collection. Both of those guys coached in the 1890's. I only have six more coaches to go to complete the collection! |

Back to topic: I'd love to add a Walt Disney to my collection in 2014 and since I recently had to sell some things off, i'd love to get back to 200 with my HOF collection...

Like to add Barney Dreyfuss and/or Alex Cartwright. Getting 10 new BBHOF would be nice, not including the 2014 class. Things are getting expensive.
|
Three I would like to add
Roger Maris Gil Hodges Jackie Robinson I would be happy with one of those. |
Branch Rickey
|
I'd like to add signed Topps cards from Koufax, Willie Mays, Roger Maris and Frank Robinson.
|
Addie Joss, Pud Galvin and Kid Nichols
|
Any HOF not in my collection yet:D. But hoping for my birthday I can treat myself to a 3x5 or cut of someone in that $300-500 range. Looking at a guy like Frank Baker or Satchel Paige.

I'd love to add one of the following no-hit pitcher signatures in 2014
Make my day...
I'd love to find any of these guys in 2014: Autographs of Federal League no-hit pitchers Frank Allen and Arthur David (Davie) Davenport. BTW, has anyone ever seen sigs to either of these guys? At the very least, I would love to find an exemplar. Other no-hit pitchers that I would like to find signatures of include: Jay Hughes (1898 Baltimore), Red Donahue (1898 Phillies), Walter Thornton (1898 Chicago Bridegrooms), Weldon Henley (1905 Philadelphia A's), Johnny Lush, (1906 Phillies) and Thomas L. Hughes (Salida Tom) 1916 Boston Braves, |
Mordecai Brown (growing tired of being the high or second under-bidder)
|
Maybe a Ruth ball, but those don't come to market often
|
I will second the Alex Cartwright, maybe throw in a Cap Anson. If I were smart, I would save up all year and buy myself a Christy Mathewson for Christmas 2014...
|
Probably a couple of what I would call the "semi expensive" autos like Lajoie and Jackie. Something that displays nicely. Also would like to pick up some of the more recent inductees. And, of course, as a Cleveland Indians fan, would love a chance to acquire a Joss. I'd also like to win Mega Millions, too, so I could afford it. :)

There seem to be alot less Ansons on the market these days tho Cartwrights are around. I kick myself for some items I have missed. I'd like a reasonable priced Miller Huggins and some more guys I need on gum cards from their playing days as I have them on other mediums: Cobb, Ruth, Johnson, and Gehrig first off
|
I would love to find a signed 1969 Topps Roberto Clemente signed on front. Also would like to purchase my first signed signed T206 card.

2014 signatures

1-Mel Ott have owned and sold two on the last two years (no idea why!) 2-wahoo Sam Crawford: my first t206, and one I've wanted for awhile 3-chuck Klein 4-al Simmons 5 arky Vaughan... Always on the hunt for vintage Ted Williams cuts as well! Count is at 6, I'd love to be at 10 |
2014 sigs
Honus
Matty Tinker Chance Far stretch though!! |
I'd like to add a Ferdinand/Isabella signed doc in 2014

Matt,
Do you just collect signed index cards and cuts or how are you displaying your signatures? Where did you find the Pat Collins? Any chance you have any direction for me to find a decent one? Bryan |

What's your Lazzeri look like? Thanks, Matt |

Matt,
Here is my Lazzeri...also got mine from Jim Stinson. Very nice guy and really helped me out. Please let me know if you come across a decent Collins signature! Thanks |
My autograph holy grail would be Anne Frank. Someone found a Frank signed Christmas card in a European antiques store a few years back, a card signed to a friend.
Interestingly, the Franks and many Jews in Germany celebrated Christmas, as it was essentially a national holiday and they were German. Sort of like people in the US wearing green and having a green beer on St. Patricks Day even though they are not Irish, Irish-descendant or Catholic. In her diary, she writes about exchanging Christmas presents in their hideout. I'm not Jewish, but loved her book and transcribed for a local Jewish center letters from WWII era German Jews, some letter writers who escaped in time to England and the US and some who died in concentration camps. So it's all poignant and interesting to me. |
The only 3 names on my list this year are Sam Breadon, Branch Rickey (that will complete my 34 Cardinals), and Danny Whelan to complete my 1960 Pirates. The first two are pretty easy, but a nice looking Whelan that's not on a basketball seems to be pretty tough.

Dream auto
My dream signature on anything would be Malcom X.
|
I would like to find a dual signed baseball by only Juan Marichal and Warren Spahn. I know there are many balls out there where both have signed along with others (like HOF, '65 Giants, and all-star balls), but I want one where only they both signed the sweetspot (if possible).
|
At least one (or more) obscure (or nearly so) former . . .
. . . Detroit Tigers ballplayers on my want list (at a price I deem reasonable).
2013 was an outstanding year for my collection as I successfully added five autographs from my want list. Given the obscurity of most of the names on that list (or infrequency of the not-so-obscure), even crossing off one wanted autograph during the course of a calendar year is reason to celebrate. Just a small sampling of some the names I still need (these have more recent deceased-dates): died Name (nickname) ----- ----------------------- 1962 Dowd, Raymond (Snook) 1963 DeFate, Clyde (Tony) 1963 Hankins, Donald 1965 Fuller, Frank 1970 Hall, Herbert Silas 1976 Hennessey, Lester J. 1979 Glaser, Norman Matt 1960 McCreery, Edward (Esley) 1961 Loudell, Arthur (Baldy) 1963 Lorenzen, Adolph 1964 McDermott, Frank 1965 Huber, Clarence 1965 Kocher, Brad 1966 Morrisette, William 1968 Lelivelt, Wm. John (Bill) 1960 Wheeler, Edward W. 1963 Wiggs, James 1963 Williams, John Thomas 1965 Watson, John Thomas 1970 Reynolds, Ross E. (Doc) 1971 Peploski, Joseph (Pepper) 1979 Ward, Joseph (Hap) |
