Babe Ruth Game-Used Sawdust

Have we reached yet another new low?

Pretty sad I agree, but still not as bad as the Steiner Alex Rodriguez signed game used jock strap I saw at auction. That's the eternal bench mark for me.

The item description "Like New" is what really cracks me up (the dust, not the strap).

I like that: "this is the cheapest low numbered item you can own from babe ruth mem"

If this was/is a real product from Highland Mint I can't imagine the pain somebody went through in putting that bat through a machine!!

But where is it on the population report?

I think the lowest for me was when a Chicago bar auctioned Bill Veeck's artificial leg (he had given the leg to the bar owner to be displayed as some sort of souvenier).

That sawdust is from the Highland Mint.

They've actually been doing this for many years. It's just an offshoot of them cutting up the bats for their photo presentations. The sawdust is a byproduct of the bat cutting process, and instead of just throwing it away, they began encapsulating and selling it also.

I am rarely in favor of cutting up scarce relics (*unless it is already ruined and some good use can still come of individual parts)....
