Your favorite t206
What is your favorite t206 card? I know theres hundreds but whats the one that stands out the most to you?
|
Not my most valuable T206 by any means, but I've always been partial to the Tinker portrait. Many of the portrait shots from the set in my opinion are some of the classiest images you'll find on any pre war card.

great choice Tony....
I'm going to have to think about this one.....
|
I agree the Tinker is a great pose. For me its between two,Bill Dahlen Brooklyn or Dutch Revelle. If I have to pick one I'm going with the Richmond Colt Dutch.
|
T-206's
I'm not really partial to just one T-206, but I really like the portrait poses of each HOF in the set.
I also liked the T-206 Joe Jackson card the Net did for April Fools. Too bad there is no Joe Jackson portrait T-206.:( Tony |

Beautiful Tinker Tony!! Love that card.
Mine changes frequently, but this one happens to be one of my all time favorites :) Sincerely, Clayton |

No way to choose so when this question comes up I always pick a not-so-obvious one, such as:

It always changes, but this is the one that came to mind today:
|
Johnson portrait, easily #1, not even a close second.
|
My favorite is Cobb bat off the shoulder. Sorry I don't have a scan available.
Mathewson black cap is a close second. |

I do like them all, but agree the Johnson port is a fav that I would want to own if I didn't collect the set.

That's a beauty of Johnson Wonka. I've also always liked the Tinker bat on.
This has always been one of my favorites as well. |

This is probably one of my top ones I like. Haven't purchased it yet but love the bright blue and the eyes pop as well. Just a great card but to be honest I have always loved the portraits

Love the Chase blue portrait, second favorite would be Johnson.

Matty Port
I'm still stickin' with this one...

Johnson portrait with Lajoie (with bat) a close second.

There's a lot to appreciate in the T206 set, but I have always had a warm spot in my heart for the Leifield pitching card. Always rooting for the underdog. This example is very small, especially designed for those with magnifying glasses.

Agree on the Mathewson portrait! For as much love as the Johnson portrait gets (and deservedly so), the Matty portrait is equally as stunning.
My overall top pick would be the Cobb bat off. I'm a sucker for HOFers, and batting poses, and multi-colored backgrounds, so the Cobb would be my desert island T206. These 3 don't get enough love, imo. I like how Wee Willie has his glove stuffed into his back pocket, plus the puffs of white clouds drifting in the blue sky background. The Waddell pitching and George Davis are also visual standouts in The Monster... |
Too hard to choose....
Hard to pick a fave pose but before I got this one I always wanted one.....The back was a plus....but the pose is what I wanted.

Leon, you beat me to the punch! His look is totally regal, as befits a man at that point of his career and accomplishments.
|
Mine's not quite as nice as the others pictured (I still love it, though I am going to upgrade it this spring). But of all the T206 cards, the WaJo portrait is by far my favorite card in the set.

Looks like WaJo is a favorite for everyone, especially me.
I was going to post mine but I will go with a green Cobb. http://www.net54baseball.com/picture...ictureid=13556 |

My favorite Kid Elberfeld portrait.

Other than a select handful, are there really any ugly T206s??? I could post 50, easily, that are all great looking.

The one that always comes to mind before all others is the Cobb red background.
The one that always gets me aesthetically though, is the Keeler batting. Steve |
There are so many beautiful cards in the set and I especially like the portraits. This is the one non-portrait card I like collecting. I really like the pose and the background colors.
If anyone has any nice Bell's out there and is looking for a good home, I'm waiting. http://i129.photobucket.com/albums/p...psb9242ed1.jpg |
I will echo the Ty Cobb green background portrait.
Also, Ed Walsh. I used to own that card---I regret parting with it.:( |
Is it just me or was Hal Chase shockingly handsome?

Great choice, leaf...lajoie portrait is easily one of my favorites. Beautiful card as well!

Take the money issue out of the equation and I'd say Knight with bat. Put money back into it and I'd say the red Cobb is hard to beat.

I've always liked my Mathewson portrait with the 1910 date stamp on the back.
http://www.t206blog.com/wp-content/u...rtrait-HOF.jpg And of course there's my dirty Hooker who was nailed in an old Philadelphia bathroom. http://www.t206blog.com/wp-content/u...ern-League.jpg |
If we are talking aesthetics, these are at the top of my list.
