1 Attachment(s)
TY COBB COMPLETE PERSONAL CHECK HIGHLY PRIZED "AUGUSTA" CHECK There are Ty Cobb checks and then there are Ty Cobb checks. This is one of the more perfect examples I have ever had the pleasure of offering. Among the Cobb checks that were introduced into the hobby many years ago almost all are from his western bank accounts signed later in life. A select few were from the "Georgia Railroad Bank of Augusta Georgia" these were checks signed earlier in his life and are FAR more attractive for display. Offered here is an Augusta Check dated Oct 18th, 1930. Measures 3x8. Written entirely in his own hand and signed. Bank paid perforations well away from the signature and cancel stamps are on reverse. Cobb's career was astonishing. He played for the Detroit Tigers 1905-1926, Philadelphia Athletics 1927-28 and managed the Tigers 1921-1926. He led the league in batting an amazing 12 Times ! And retired with a .367 lifetime batting average the highest of all members of the Hall of Fame. In 1936 when the first five members of the Hall of Fame were inducted Ty Cobb recieved the highest number of votes, More than Babe Ruth, Cy Young, Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson or Honus Wagner. He died in 1961. $1,250.00 ppd I accept Pay Pal, Master Card & Visa...SOLD !!!
