1888 1889 N43 Allen & Ginter Slocum Tennis shortprint?
Guys looking for some help with my 1888 Allen & Ginter Slocum Tennis player.... I'm sure there are a few people trying to put this set together. I noticed that PSA pop report only has '1' of these ever graded and SGC doesn't show that 'any/zero' have been graded!!! What's the deal with this card? Was it short printed? I have one that looks like it would grade a 6.... well of course you would have to disregard the back damage (scrapbook). Still a nice card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have one ungraded. I suspect a lot are out there raw none more than any other card in the set. I picked mine up as trade bait and residual interest due to his relation to the General Slocum disaster (shipwreck) that was the largest loss of life in NYC prior to 9/11 (there's a memorial plaque somewhere).

I have handled quite a few N28's, N29's, N43's
and other ginter N cards - I suggest there are no short prints in this set. I will admit that due to the much smaller print run of the N29 set - I haven't really enough data for a definitive conclusion. Topical subjects are driven by the ever changing whims and desires of the collector. I had quite a difficult time finding tennis players for a couple (or more years) from all three of these multi-themed sport sets - especially the N43's - other themes in the N162 and N184 sets. As for the SGC graded card registry I surmise it's an error as I have one that's SGC graded.

Thanks for the feedback guys!!!

If you can't sell
all of the N43's you won from Probstein - I need a few :-)
