A Major Loss to the Collecting Community
Robert "Bob" Franklin of Baltimore past away recently.
Bob was mainly a memorabilia collector but also dabbled in cards He was a dear friend of mind and a local Baltimore collector! Bob was serious competition and ran Baltimore stuff up beyond imagination! He will be sincerely missed and I truly hope he rests in peace! I loved you Bob! Sincerely, Dan Mckee |

Glass
If he was a friend of your then I would consider him a friend as well. I too will raise a glass in his honor.

Leon may know if Bob was registered but I think Bob may have been a lurker on the memorabilia side. Though he has plenty of rare Baltimore cards, his main interest was always memorabilia.
Thanks for all of the kind words and thoughts dan |

Sad
That is sad news Dan. Bob was a major player in Esskay cards. He cleaned me out of my first batch without blinking an eye. We split some other Esskay lots over the years but I never bid against him because it was pointless.
My favorite story about him was that he would never go on eBay in December. Instead his wife would take his wantlist and search eBay and buy stuff for him for Christmas. I got a very nice note from them one year when she unexpectedly gave him a 54 Esskay Bobo Newsome that she picked up from me. He was waiting to sell the farm when a 54 Esskay Heard became available. Unfortunately I think he never got one. Rest in Peace Bob. |
