Not being picky, but I don't believe ANY of this issue were Factory Sealed--I don't think they even came w/ tape on them!

I bought it as part of a lot from a reputable auction house that included several early '80s traded sets. Some were sealed with tape, others the tape had been removed, but they all had similar tape marks. I checked the auction listing and it was listed there as "factory sealed."

I just assumed the tape was from the factory because from my memory any traded box I've seen either had the tape or at least yellowing/discoloring where it once was but I'm by no means an expert and would welcome any other comments.

Regardless, it's still available and I'm open to offers.

Robert--

All the early '80's Topps Traded sets came out of the cases w/out any tape or wrap of any kind. The tape was added by many Dealers just to keep people from trying to open them.

All my sets I bought back then are tape-free and if you just search EBay for any yr all the way thru the '80's (I don't know when they added cello) you'll see many pics w/ no tape.

"Factory Sealed" used by an auction house or anyone else is NOT a valid term for these sets unless you are selling a sealed CASE.

Robert - you are not alone. I've got three boxed '82T TR sets that have the same tape marks as yours.

Some came with the tape from Topps and some didn't.....yours is correct as all the original taped ones all have that aged tape that is correct.
