I picked up this ball at an antique shop. It is bigger then a baseball and smaller then a softball. It has a 3 3/4" diameter any help would be appreciated. Thanks D.

Clincher softball

Does anyone know the size of an "indoor baseball"? The short-lived late 1800's/early 1900's version of the game. I read they were larger than baseballs but smaller than softballs. True or not true? Any examples out there? Might this be one?

Sorry, no answers just more questions....

No, it's a Clincher softball - that's the answer. It might be a different brand, but the only one I'm aware of that has that stitch pattern is the Clincher. I have one that my sister bought me years ago because she thought it was something special. It isn't. Now I'm doomed to carry it around with me forever. It's unsalable and unusable.

Indoor balls are larger than a baseball, but that appears to be a softball.

Certainly a clincher-type ball and certainly worthless, unfortunately. I bought one with the Clincher logo visible and in clean condition, at a flea market for a dollar and was pleased to then notice a rougher ball at an antique store for $25. That was 6 years ago. The ball is still there, now listed at $5 with no interest.

I have two stamped Worth Indoor baseballs (the yellow ones) and they are smaller than a baseball if that helps at all.
