1910's Winston Salem- ID Help needed

Hi All, Very happy to have won this cool PC of the Winston Salem Team, I felt Fogarty was 5th from the right so pulled the trigger. Just trying to ID more of the players and maybe the year. Thanks for any and all help-

Nice Scott,
I'll post my T209 and T210 W-S sets when I have a chance....
Be well Brian

Fogarty is correct. Try to post a higher res of the team faces.

nolemmings 11-17-2013 11:05 PM

Looks like McKeavit (McKevitt) behind Fogarty.

bmarlowe1 11-17-2013 11:15 PM

Could be Swindell 2nd from right.

1910 WS Team Postcard

Hi Scott,

Congrats on the nice pickup. I was hoping it was going to fly under the radar. No such luck.

I can help date the postcard, because John Tiedemann is the catcher all the way to the right. He split the 1910 season between WS and Norfork.

Congrats,

Patrick

Lovely piece - Scott !

Based only on the cards you posted and also Todd's and Vintage catcher's comments, you have:

King - ? - Brent - ? - Cote - Painter - McKeavitt - Fogarty - ? - ? - Swindell - Tiedemann

It is likely 1910. A bit more research would probably yield some more names.

Brian Weisner 11-19-2013 02:55 PM

I think that is Templin in between King and Brent....

Could be.

rhettyeakley 11-19-2013 09:56 PM

if anyone on that postcard is "Ferrell" it is the guy fourth from the right. (Obviously a very tentative id as the angle on the T210 is problematic).

Thanks again for all the help! I am pretty sure its a 1910, ill post some more info tonight and would like everyone's thoughts.

Scott,

According to Baseballreference.com., McKevitt's only year with Winston-Salem was 1910, after which he was done.

Is it just me or is "fogarty" one of the most unfortunate looking people you have ever seen? He's not so bad in his individual card but man is that an ugly guy in that postcard! He literally has one of the longest face I think I've ever seen. Very unusual looking guy.

Yes - the reason for the last line of post #10 was that McKeavitt, Cote, King, Painter and Tiedemann are all listed on the club only in 1910.

smtjoy 11-20-2013 08:50 PM

Thanks again everyone, I had come to the same conclusion that it is a 1910 PC as a number of the players were only there that year, any ideas on the remaining players?

Brian Weisner 11-20-2013 09:14 PM

Hey Scott,
I have several educated guesses that I will post in the am....
Be well Brian

PS I think Laval might be the 4th from the left....

bmarlowe1 11-21-2013 11:25 PM

I think Laval is right. Keep going.

Brian Weisner 11-22-2013 05:36 AM

I've got a sick child, but will try to post my guesses on the last few after I get her settled.... Be well Brian

PS I think I need some caffeine too...

celoknob 11-22-2013 07:31 AM

I stand corrected. Agree with Laval.

Brian Weisner 11-22-2013 11:01 AM

Here's my working list....
