Final Day of Bidding - Love of the Game Auctions

Hi everyone:

Just a quick note to remind everyone (in case you haven't gotten enough emails) that tonight is the final day of bidding for Love of the Game's Fall, 2013 auction.

If you haven't had an opportunity to check out the sale yet, there are lots of great items this time around, including:

T206 Magie error, PSA 3
• The #1 graded 1929 Kashin set on any registry, including all four short prints and high-grade Ruth and Gehrigs
• A super-rare 1923-24 Billiken Andy Cooper (HOF), the highest-graded example known
• Four 1911 M110 Sporting Life cabinets, including Wagner, Cobb, Lajoie and Chance
• A near-set of high-grade 1938 Goudeys, each sold individually, collectively one of the finest sets on any registry
• Plenty of 19th Century cards, Hall of Famers and otherwise
• An excellent assortment of tough prewar cards, T206s, tough backs, hard-to-find type cards, and quality memorabilia
• This T205 Oscar Stanage print freak, which I love.

Extended bidding begins at 9PM EST, and there's still plenty of time to register (if you haven't already).

Thanks for your interest, and if you've got any questions, I'll be around just about all day and night to answer them.

Best of luck, and thank you once again for all the fine support.

Regards,
-Al

Good luck everyone, tonight!

(except on the item I'm bidding on...) ;)

Ahead on a couple of the Kashins. Keeping my fingers crossed that the individual cards will trump the set as a whole.

The last auction closed at 4AM Eastern.

No guarantees, though. With just 550 lots, this isn't a huge auction with 2000 lots, like some. Fewer lots generally mean fewer bidders.

Damn, 3am and bidding is still going on.

I'm there. Considering firing at a Shag again, but I guess I will be happy with what I am winning so far...

YAY bedtime :) Thanks for the great auction.

I just got home from work and found out that my Max bid held up. :)

Love when my max bid holds up!

Got a Cobb!:)

I waited it out till the bitter end. I'm curious if another board member ended up with Ten Million. I must have gone back and forth 3-4 times in extended bidding before throwing the towel in. Won a couple others I wanted though. So much good stuff to chose from!

Congrats on your wins, everybody. I look forward to seeing them in the next pick up thread!

Congrats Scott! I landed a Cobb as well (T206 Bat On SGC 20). Pretty happy with the price too...

I didn't win anything, but there were lots of great items to be had. Any thoughts on the final price for the Altoona Tribune Ed Walsh card? The item went for $596, and is apparently a one of one. I bailed out when the card took a fair amount of action in the extended bidding. I was intrigued because I live just a couple hours from Altoona, Pa., and the Card Target site only shows four previous Altoona Tribune cards that went to auction in recent years. I know that is one of the rare backs of the series.

I admit that I was kinda skittish about going real high on a type card like that after seeing what happened to the Green Joyce cards in the just completed Goodwin auction.

I wish you would have gone back and forth a few more times :)

Was that yours Scott??? I was 49-51% about going one increment higher over the final couple hrs. Much of that 51% against was driven by being frustrated that I didn't get it for what I thought would be a steal at $425 plus BP. Regardless, it's a great card and hope to pick one up at some point.

I was the underbidder, and six or more of those bids were mine. I thought it went high, but obviously not so high. If you checked Cardtarget you'll see a Baker in slightly better grade recently sold for about $250 less. Frankly, I'm hopeful people are willing to write these and the Green-Joyce's off as plentiful--works for me :)
