Is SGC changing their label?
I'm not sure if my chain is getting yanked or not. I have not been able to find any info that SGC is changing their label
|
|
I have heard no such thing. Very odd.....
|
I heard awhile ago they had planned to change their holder but haven't heard anything about changing the flip
|
God I hope that's a joke...if they're switching to that lame flip...I'm going back to raw!!!!
|
I started a topic about this over on SGC's forum to get a definitive answer.
BTW, their Wild Card special from October is carrying over to November. $7 per card on any card valued at $250 or less. 10 day turn around. Woo hoo! |

I just got an order from them that arrived Saturday that was graded last week and its the same flip as before. So I would say no they are not changing it.

You know, they read the board so maybe they'll look at that but if they purchased a large quantity of them then I don't think they'll change for a while.
Perhaps in this industry the business owners don't do market research to see what people would like a label to look like. Yeah, that label does look a bit unappealing. Regardless of how it looks, I think I'd still stick with SGC over PSA, even if the flip looks a bit uglier. I bet SGC is happy they didn't grade that first Wags card...., if they did, they'd have given it the AUTH indication... oh yeah, TPGs didn't do that back then.... I guess the card would have been returned to Bill as "altered" :D |
The cert begins with 111. Are they not up to 135 now in the 100 series?
I'll bet no. |

Is SGC changing their label?
Why do flips still exist anyways? It's 2013, print it directly on the holder; it will save paper and prevent fraud.

SGC (the flip from the OP) = Some(other) Grading Company :D

With almost any product there's a balance between expense and what's currently technically possible. Some of what's being done with cars is technically amazing.(Porsche 918 claims 78MPG and the Nurbergring record for a production car:eek: )But the cost is just as amazing. The best change to the flips I can think of would be making them a tamper evident sticker stuck to the inside of the slab. Like the ones that come apart revealing the words "void" or "damaged" The change to the slab would only be a way to isolate the sticker from the card since the adhesives aren't at all archival. Add a hologram, and/or maybe a QR code linking to a scan and it's tougher to alter. That could be done without much added expense, and would be effective until someone found a way to beat it.
