This being your first post to the board, you may not be aware, but there is a specific Buy/Sale/Trade section for "looking to buy" posts (see the "Buy/Sale/Trade Section" icon above). We try to keep the commerce contained to that section and the main boards open for general questions and discussions. Sometimes those discussions might lead to something being sold, but it would be a very cluttered board if we all just came on here and posted our want lists.

Feel free to call me names too, but I don't think you're going to score too many deals with this approach. ;)

Kawika 10-15-2013 12:45 PM

Hey, guys, you're kind of ruining his buzz*. :D

*Tip o' the hat to new poster Muddy Mules for that priceless comment.

You are selling yourself to 78-yr old women?

If you need money that bad, you shouldn't be trying to purchase high-dollar autographs.

Especially, if he's selling himself on credit... Everyone knows, you gotta get that money up front..

Runscott 10-15-2013 02:33 PM

Not sure how to create polls, but anyone want to guess when the ban sets in? I'm going with 5:45 Eastern, today.

Big Six 10-15-2013 02:48 PM

This is the general memorabilia section. If you are looking for autographs there is a specific section for those too (as well as BST sections for both). I don't collect autographs.... I have enough headaches fun with cards!! So far you seem to have a pretty thick skin, which is good. Happy collecting.

Last I checked, yoyo, is that if you are going to make nasty remarks, you BETTER have your full name in the thread!

Leon,
Am I wrong here??

Why bring Common into this? Don't we already bash enough rappers on this site?:D

novakjr 10-15-2013 04:50 PM

Does it bother anyone else, that he's been told that he'd posted in the wrong section, yet he still hasn't re-posted in any of the appropriate sections? What exactly is he trying to accomplish?

It's one thing to leave this thread open, but to not put one in the appropriate section as well, almost seems disrespectful and counter-productive on his part..

What about Christy Mathewson, Rube Waddell and Joe Jackson? Unfortunately, these are all I have left...

Really, correct me if I am wrong, but the general rule on anything but the main page is that some sales have been allowed? This being the memorabilia section I don't think the thread is too out of line being here. The rest of the noise is somewhat entertaining. However, Generally speaking sales stuff should probably be put in the appropriate BST area. I think the OP probably understands that now. Not a big deal, imho....

I wasn't so much attacking the fact that it was posted here. It happens, especially with newbies, and doesn't bother me. BUT my point was that it would've been more productive to repost in the right place, especially after he was told that he'd be more likely to find some action there.. Instead, he left this as his lone representative of his wants, while he assisted in turning this thread into what it ultimately became. I'll admit, it was kinda entertaining, and I've got no problem with the newbie..

Good luck in your endeavors, Mr Ruth...

So insulting a guy's mother falls into the "somewhat entertaining" category? Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I thought the bar at Net54 was set a bit higher than that.

barrysloate 10-15-2013 05:34 PM

Don't we have a rule about using "texting" spelling on the board? Isn't that discouraged here?

Exhibitman 10-15-2013 05:38 PM

Ti.m Da.vis you may want to rethink your approach. If I was in your shoes I'd not be too proud of having this thread bumped. So far, your initial intro to this forum has impressed all of us only with your lack of decorum and social skills. That is not going to get you a single offer of anything for sale from anyone here. There are lots of extremely deep pockets and deep collections here--swinging in rude and lewd doesn't impress any of them.

Runscott 10-15-2013 06:21 PM

He is adding posts, period - that is the only thing positive he is doing. It benefits the forum owner in the short run , but benefits no one in the long run.

Mr ruth 10-15-2013 08:11 PM

Yes I posted in the wrong section but didn't know that until someone pointed that out!! But I only posted to try and find the autos that I want, not for the entertainment!! Everyone else took it to where it went!! Again if u have what I'm looking for lmk

I missed that one. He's gone for some time......

Maddog 10-18-2013 06:58 PM

Damn missed all the fun:D

Someone please tell me that was some kind of early Halloween scare:confused:
Does he actually speak like that in real life, to people, in public, not to mention whatever job he has:eek:

Leon, we need to raise the bar around here- anyone with an IQ below 20 not allowed:D

...and the 'age' bar as well. I agree with Leon that it's great that children are interested in vintage cards, but they need to understand that the way they speak to their teenage friends is not appropriate for talking to grown-ups.

Unfortunately Scott, there are a lot of adults out there who speak like that as well. Hence, children believe that it's "ok".
It's very said that there are people who do not understand how important simple communication skills are and how poor skills can limit you in life:(

Yes, but if you are going to do the "I slept with your mother" thing, you should at least do it like an adult:

from 'Kingdom of Heaven'

Guy de Lusignan: Would I had fought you when you were still capable of making bastards.

Godfrey of Ibelin: I knew your mother when she was making hers. Fortunately, you're too old to be one of mine.

I told the OP to email me in about a week and he could probably come back. So he did and he is. I don't think he knew about the 0 tolerance rule on talking about members families. I think on a lot of other boards that would not have been a big deal. ON this one it is. Hopefully he will be able to play nicely with everyone, and vice versa, this go round....happy collecting.

Runscott 10-21-2013 06:46 PM

My mother didn't mind, but she said there was no way she was paying him. I'm not going into details.
