I am sure this has been discussed before but here is a Sporting Life Newspaper I just added to my collection and thought others might enjoy some of the information. The top scan was how to acquire M116, the 2nd for W600 and the bottom one is part of the front cover.... Enjoy...

Been looking for one for quite a while. Very nice!

Interesting that you could just pick your series for M116. Explains a lot.

Man, series 1 was stacked! Not a bad deal for 4 cents of stamps!

great information.
it's always fun to see the process folks went through to obtain cards
such as these.
the series data was particularly enlightening.
many thanks for sharing,

all the best,

Sporting Life ran weekly ads and also sent out flyer/mailers. While the ads for the M116 remained relatively the same(a few team changes and the addition of the later series), the w600 offering was a continual evolving list of those available. The glassine envelopes in the lower right are from a Lipset auction, these are the different series 1-24 that M116's came in as well as later team series which also contained the 300 subjects cards NOT found in the high # series. If that makes any sense.

AND since we are discussing this, I still need a few of the glassine envelopes if anyone has some to sell.

Just curious. For the M116 "Blue" background. Were those in series II?
Great stuff guys
