Alright Pittsburg(h) fans, post some World Series Pirates
Alright, I'm a Cubs fan, as some of you know. I am going to be rooting for the Pirates today for many reasons, most of all because it's great for baseball that they are relevant again, and also because I am rather familiar with rooting for seemingly unavoidable futility.
Let's evoke some Pittsburgh Pirate championship mettle by posting your Pittsburgh Pirates that played for championship teams, preferably when they were playing for Pittsburgh, or Pittsburg for you T206 fiends. So, who is going to start, Mazeroski or Wagner? :D GO PIRATES :D ..........but only from months October to November :o . . |
Ok, I don't mean to post again, but, anyone watching the game, can you believe that just happened?
Crowd chants "CUETO", Cueto drops ball, entire PNC crowd laughs/cheers, and next pitch Martin takes him deep. Sorry, that'll be my only personal update for the game. |
Can't be cheering for the Blue Jays, so I hope there's room for one more on the Pittsburg bandwagon...go Pirates!

Ex-Twins Francisco Liriano, Justin Morenau and Garret Jones playing for Bucs so I am for the Bucs all the way.
How about a rookie who won 3 World Series games including the Game 7 winner which brought the Pirates their very first world championship in 1909 over Ty Cobb and the Tigers. |

I will kick in a wagner!

Here is the Pirates team scorebook for the 1908 year. It contains every home game as well as a few road series. They'd go on to finish with 98 wins but fall one game short of the title. The next year they'd win 110 games as well as the World Series.
