Wanted to see if anybody had a guess as to who wrote the letter to ole Piano Legs Pernoll? Not sure what to make of the signature? He talks as if he played baseball but maybe small time? At the least I thought you all would find it interesting.... And who is "Mac's Crowd"?

Really interesting item. Sounds like he was playing town ball, maybe he played with Pernoll back in the Day.

"Mac's crowd" most likely refers to William Wallace McCredie who was owner of the Portland ballclub and was also a member of congress from 1909-11. The Portland team was also managed by his nephew Walter McCredie (pictured below).

Here are a few of "Hub" (I'm missing his 1912, 1915, and HRK)

Update? Written by HUBs Brother!

I was recently looking at my postcard and started snooping around online... Did not take me long to figure out that Hub had a brother "John Pernoll" who was the postmaster of Applegate, Jackson county - Oregon of which this card is from and written by! John Pernoll also makes a reference to their sister "Maud" and Hubs wife Ella. Really cool having something stashed away and then learning something new years later.

I thought I would type what is written so it will be easier to read:

April 14, 1911

"Judge"
The Oaks seem to be going pretty well to be so weak in the box as some of hte papers have said. The boys were all much pleased when you hung the "nothing doing" sign on old Mac's crowd.
I get the news from the Cigar Store when ever you pitch. They call me up when ever the news goes over the wire.
I have been sick for over a week but have managed to keep going. It is goig to be a pretty graft?? on me since Maud has quit the job.
We are having hard frosts every night and I think all the early fruit is killed.

The boys are going to organize a ball Team next Sunday. Dont think I will play much this year.
Will write you a letter when I get to feeling better. Regards to Ella, John?

Here's my new Pernoll, I enjoy finding a reason to post it again. Cool PC you got there.
