OT Who should be the next Commish?

I think Bob Bowman might be good.

What are the chances that Pete Rose gets a fair shake now that Selig is out?

If I were Charley Hustle, I wouldn't bet on it.:D

Long pants...UGH! A strong commish could change that.

Whoever the new commish is I would like to see him order his umpires to always call the borderline low pitch a STRIKE. Then when the batter turns around crying his eyes out, simply have the umpire say..."Hey son help me out. Show me where your knees are." In other words wear a Baseball uniform!

As fans we're not seeing the best baseball. Long pants inhibit a pitcher's leg lift and a base stealer's speed. Seems just about every player wants to be a "Manny" look-a-like.

Oh well thats why I only collect vintage.

Someone with his passion for the game, but the next guy will need to be someone with a background in business.

Someone who loves baseball and respects its tradition. Bob Costas would be nice.

Mark 09-27-2013 09:07 PM

Kevin Goldstein or Don Zimmer.

I agree with Bob Costas.

Does Selig really need a farewell tour? He should do it now. What is it exactly he is handing over?

familytoad 09-27-2013 09:33 PM

Drc

I vote for David Rudd.
Commish should be funny and know how to detect fakes.

(get well our friend!)

Pete Rose. So, he can finally get voted into the Hall of Fame.

npa589 09-27-2013 09:49 PM

It's funny, I had written Bob Costas, then Joe Torre, and then erased them and put Scully. I do think Costas would be great.

We could narrow it down by listing who would be the worst possible choices within the baseball world, and after we can't think of any more, then we'll have our official candidates.

My vote for worst would be Jose Canseco or John Rocker.

A Serious Choice

would be Tigers GM Dave Dombrowski - Likely strong support from the majority of owners with immense executive experience at age 57. I think it will come down to either him or Bowman.
