Scorecard
I wonder if this scorecard is somehow related to 19th century ballplayer Elwood Otto "woody" Whitehurst... Perhaps a local town game, and to honor him they named their teams after him...

Dave, thanks for the info. I am sure that kind of insight will be helpful to a potential interested party. I wonder if it's from his hometown (wherever that may have been)?

1896 Scorecard (Indiana State League)
2 Attachment(s)
So I ended up buying this from Tony & uncovered it today while digging through a box and decided to do a little investigative work...
As it turns out the scorecard is from the July 4th, 1896 Indiana State League contest between the Logansport Ottos and the Elwood Elwoods... The league itself was pretty small (6 teams), with clubs from Anderson, Connersville, Elwood, Kokomo, Logansport, and Rushmore... There wasn't a whole lot or record keeping back then, so there isn't a ton of information on the players, but there were two players in the Lineup that day for the Ottos that went on to have brief careers in the bigs (Monte Beville-1903 New York Highlanders, 1904 Tigers, And a catcher by the name of Bill Byers who later had a cup of coffee with the St. Louis Cardinals). Monte had a w600 sporting life cabinet & Also had a card in the c46 Imperial Tobacco set... I love the investigative work that goes into learning more about this game... I figured I would Share!
